Gay Epic Fantasies. Where?

Recommended Posts

My favorite genre, hands down, is fantasy. I love any and all things magic.

What I'm wondering is why there are so few gay fantasy stories. (ones with plot, not porn)

There are few published ones that are great. (Jim Grimsley's Kirith Kirin, Lynn Flewelling's Nightrunner Series and Mercedes Lackey's Last Herald Mage Trilogy all come to mind). Where are the ones from net authors?

Eternal Dream by Corey Perez is good (still waiting for the next chapter).

Anybody have any suggestions? (novels or online)

 Looking at this list makes me wonder if there isnt a story out there that i havent read. :read:

Hmm oh well,

I would recomond that you all read bothThe Scrolls of Icaria and A Royal Theif.

:great: Both of them are really good stories that you might enjoy to read.

Jules Scale for Stories:

The Scrolls of Icaria=9.9

A Royal Theif=9.9

A Royal Theif was great!

:)

Wait til Drake hear that Mry gave a Thumb Up to his story, there won't be a wide enough door for his head to go thru

:great:

Maybe. I did send him an email... but I haven't heard back. But then, some authors don't reply.

I actually have like three chapters of a fantasy story that I started writing before Do Over came into existence.

Your typical prince-in-hiding who is also a mage and returns to the land of his birth type story with a few twists along the way. Who knows, one day I might go back to it and pick it back up...I'm a better writer than i was when i started it so there's much more I can flesh out in the story from where I left it...

As for suggestions...all the ones I know of are already recommended...

hey,

saw the newsletter, and wanted to read the story...

the link from the archive doesn't seem to be working...

Hi,

If you mean A Royal Thief, then unfortunately, no the links won't work. Drake is MIA and hasn't been seen online for a year. His website was hacked and a trojan put on it.

The best I can offer is a link from the Wayback Machine, but it doesn't have the complete story:

http://web.archive.org/web/20050204094321/...rg/webtv01.html

Someone is trying to get hold of Drake, but so far no luck.

For The Scrolls of Icaria, the AwesomeDude website was re-arranged recently. Jamie's home page is:

http://jamie.awesomedude.com

and the direct link to the chapters of The Scrolls is:

http://jamie.awesomedude.com/tsoi/scrolls_...a__chapters.htm

I hope this helps!

There has been talk about trying to resurrect the site, as someone has a backup, but the stories are copyright to Drake and putting them back up without his explicit permission is questionable. All I can say is that people are trying....

Definitely The Scrolls of Icaria. Extremely long and unfinished, but has all the elements of a classic high fantasy. Worth reading, for sure. :D I'm the same way you are, love fantasy so much it is unreal, and when you couple it with romance, it just HAS to be awesome.

You won't be disappointed with TSOI. I've recommended to several people now.

There are loads out there but I'm not sure if this is exactly the genre you are looking for (because I'm surprised you feel there are no gay related fantasies out there), so I'm only giving link to one of my favorites.

The God Eaters (by Jesse Hajicek)

http://chartreuse.studiowhippingboy.com/g_e_index.html

A description I took from another site:

"Ash and Kieran have almost nothing in common; soft-spoken, shy, pale Ash is almost the complete opposite of tough, cruel, scarred Kieran. But they do have a few things in common: they share the same jail cell, and they're both there for having unnatural talents. Close proximity forces them to have a relationship, but Ash's attraction to Kieran leaves him longing for more.

This story is incredible. It's hard to summarize it fully because I don't want to give anything away, but there are several different storylines which seem bizzarely separate until the author weaves them together in a mind-blowing web that will keep you glued to the screen. It has everything you could possibly want: action, adventure, lust, love, guns, magic, bad guys, not-so-bad guys, and best of all sweaty, naked men. The plot is superb, the characters deep and meaningfully real, and best of all there's a sequel in the plans. Everyone cheer!"

hmm, one fantasy story I read was on archerland, called Ray of Hope by Udream which was pretty good, although I read it a couple years back so it might not actually be as good as I thought it was before (expectations rose a lot these past years). The story's hard to describe since I don't remember all of it, but it's mostly about this 18? year old discovering his best friend is actually 57 years old and then goes and saves the world. Storyline is somewhat similar to Lord of the Rings where he has his buddies to help him but other than that, it's pretty original and fun to read.

Typically, if the stories are copywritten to the author and the author has given permission for the stories to be on the site, then if the site has to be relocated/reconstructed with the stories intact (as the author wrote them) then the permission is still valid until said permissions are retracted.

With that said, the copies are coming from a backup, if they go to the same domain, then there is absolutely no copywrite infringement at all.

I understand what you are saying, but the SITE is also Drake's. The registration came up for renewal recently and someone paid for it in Drake's name, but I believe it was a friend, not Drake himself, and they don't have the necessary passwords to get in to fix the site. Efforts are still being made to contact Drake....

Hmmm... all of the registration services I know (not that many, but several) require you to log in using your ID and PW in order to pay for a renewal. I think it's strange that any registration service would allow someone to pay in someone else's name without having their ID and PW.

As I understand it, the registration of the domain URL lapsed, and then someone paid for it in Drake's name. I don't have any information regarding the hosting service.
