Sweet, sweet chapter, Nick. wub.gif Well, at least the parts with Dennis and Gerald. tongue.gif They're so very playful together. I like that.

Meet you at the Waffle House. biggrin.gif

Yes, this is a sweet, rather quiet chapter. Like the storm is about to break up at work, as Dennis and Gerald grow into a warm, loving relationship.

The Waffle House being a private place, I don't expect Peter to come in with a gun. It's surprising Dennis hasn't been told more about the situation; it doesn't seem very good news overall that he's kept in the dark.

Actually, Gerald is doing the right thing in not telling Dennis about it right now. There's some things a person in a supervisory position can't tell anyone under them. In time, he would be able to, even if at the moment he wanted to, he can't. I imagine by the time he can tell him, he'll be a basket case and need Dennis' support.

It wouldn't surprise me to find out that Dennis knows that something is wrong, but is being polite by not asking.

He might not bring a gun, but there always the possibility of him bringing a shank or throwing a fire ball in Dennis's face

Damn, now the author is editing the editor. I think this editor is starting to do too much.

I also noticed that we still don't know exactly what Dennis ended up deciding to do at the end of chapter 3. It looked to me like he must have just signed the report, then later privately called Alana and explained everything to her, including that he'd signed because he felt pressured to and because he was being threatened. Is that what everyone else concluded?

Don't do that!!! ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

One other thing I noticed: doesn't it seem as though Gerald is developing a drinking problem? I certainly got that impression. I suppose it's somewhat understandable (perhaps not the best word) considering all the pressure and stress he's under right now, but it looks trouble to me!

I'm eager to see the 5th chapter!

Awesome job, Nick biggrin.gif

It's what I concluded. Hence wondering why Alana had not updated him on the situation.

It seemed he was experimenting to find his drink of choice, and maybe later on he might develop a problem. The opening paragraph with Dennis reflecting on liquor was really good, and it could lead to your theory being right.

That's a pretty good observation, Kevin smile.gif

Gerald might think he's experimenting, but what if he keeps buying liquor and drinking each and every day?? Will he eventually puke on Dennis's kitchen floor?? Even worse, what if he doesn't think he's sick, and him and Dennis kiss, and he pukes suddenly in the middle of a hot lip lock? Will it ruin his and Dennis's relationship???

Or maybe the reason she hasn't updated him yet is because she just copped the new Forensics CD and she can't pull herself away

Hmm, I don't think that in itself would permanently ruin their relationship, but I think he developed an actual drinking problem with a cycle of that and other troubling behaviour, it would.

No, I'm thinking he didn't sign it. He couldn't have. That would have totally compromised his career; and could land him in jail. Just not worth it. sad.gif

So, basically, I'm saying that he refused to sign calling his boss' bluff.

Hmmm....I'd have to say that if someone threw up in my mouth in the middle of a kiss, that would most likely be the last kiss we would ever share. tongue.gif

You'll get all of this answers you're looking for, and some you probably were hoping not to get, in chapter five smile.gif
