Am I the only one confused by the new - to me - way of diagraming the posting paths rather than attaching the messages together as has been done?

It sounds like you've accidently switched to outline mode. If you look under "Options" in the top right hand corner of the thread, you'll see you can switch it back

Choose Display Mode "Standard" under options.
