For the past four days I have been deleting at least two spam messages for viagra or other enhancements being left in the review section for my stories

just thought you would like to know they are back

We removed the securty code due to members complaining about them when posting a review. This basicaly made it open season on the blogs for spam bots to post ads. We can re-enable them, but there's no guarantee they will stay if we get a mass influx of complaints.

By security code do you mean a captcha image?

If so then I have another method you can try that will stop bots dead in their tracks. Obviously I don't want to discuss it in public so if you're interested then send me a PM.

Unfortunately these days it's often humans who are paid on a commission basis to post spam. There's not much you can do about them except block lots of IP ranges.

Yes, we previously disabled the captcha. However, I think the eFiction software was updated and they fixed the capthca issue. I have re-enabled it for now.

The spam I've seen has been coming from a wide range of IPs so it would be a major pain to go through and block them all.
