Well, I was on this year's California Democratic Party Platform committee and there's something really nice in there for gay people. The link to the full platform is here: http://www.calitics.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=5452
What is the platform? Well it's a basic document that represents the consensus of California Democrats. That's not a simple majority, but what the vast majority of Democrats in California believe in and support. Almost every part of the Platform was passed unanimously, and those that weren't had mostly one person abstaining from the vote. When the Platform was voted on in general session with over 2,000 California Democratic delegates in the room, it was passed unanimously without dissent. Why is this is important? Well for the first time ever, one of the State Democratic Parties is saying loud and clear:
We support the LGBT Community in its quest for the right to legal marriage as well as the clergy's complete religious freedom to solemnize marriages in accordance with their beliefs.
