This weekend is the election for California's pledged delegates. Based on Primary results, Clinton and Obama get to split the delegation based on Congressional District, and Democrats were able to file to run for those delegate slots. Both Robert and I filed, although I filed for Clinton and he filed for Obama. It seems we weren't the only ones interested because there were like almost two and a half thousand people who also applied. The elections are Sunday, and today the number of people running dropped by almost a thousand.

How?

Well, each campaign was able to 'prune' their lists, removing people from the running who they didn't want as a delegate from California for their campaign. Clinton pruned less than 50 people. Obama's campaign pruned nearly a THOUSAND people from their list, including Robert (they also pruned one of the most vocal pro-Obama bloggers in California, and the President of the California Young Democrats who traveled to New Hampshire on his OWN DIME to campaign for Obama.)

Ouch.

Obama bin Laden also fired a pledged delegate for comparing her neighbors kids to monkeys......I wonder if he was as offended when his reverend was using real racicial hate speach in his sermons. What a scumbag.

Wow!

What was his likely reasoning?

dry.gif ..........Ok, I'm not making accusations here, and I know it is 'political hit season'. But can anybody verify if this is true or not on Obama;

......keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran.

I can verify that it's a falsehood. First, the actual swearing in of Congressmen and Senators is a raise-your-right-hand deal, with no book, holy or otherwise involved. Many Congresscritters pose afterwards for a photo op, with hand on Bible, particularly if they have a constitutency where the religious conservatives are particularly strong.

Obama is a Senator from Illinois, and until last month a longtime member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. He was raised Christian, a liberal sort of Christianity, by his mother and stepfather.

Interestingly, another black man was elected to the House, from Minnesota IIRC, and he is a practicing Muslim, and did a photo op with the Koran. I don't remember his name to google up a cite for this, but it's Ellsworth or Ellison or something of the sort. He is not now, nor has he ever been Barack Hussein Obama Jr. -- though a few people have, innocently or otherwise, attempted to conflate the two.

The Congressman who used a Quran (Koran) for his photo-op was Keith Ellison of Minnesota. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Ellison_(politician)
Ellison actually used an antique volume of the Quran that had belonged to Thomas Jefferson.

That's worse than Islam in the view of the right wing. The Doles had to leave their Methodist church in Washington when he ran for President.

In the book of Matthew (I think about chapter 6) Jesus very plainly tells us not to swear on anything. This is not some obscure part of Leviticus, but right in the middle of Jesus' Greatest Hits. So picture this: people who demand that officials swear on a book that very clearly tells you not to swear on anything, and those folks say they take that book literally. I love it!

What I don't love are all the lies told about Obama. Not that I like the lies told about McCain any better. After the 2000 SC primary, I vowed I'd never vote for George W. Bush for anything anywhere any time. And not that I much care for or agree with Obama's politics. But geez, people, there's no excuse for the level of Big Lies going on.

Over the last few months I've got email that says that Obama is too white, too black, too Arab, too Muslim, too Christian, and too Hawaiian, and all that from the same person (who's not even a right-wing idiot), each supported by lies that contradict the lies in the previous message.

cool.gif ................The 'smear a candidate season' isn't even in high gear yet! tongue.gif I am also getting e-mails from hell charging both candidates with unfounded or outrageous accusations. I take it with a grain of salt, it comes with the territory at election season.
