Full Version: RESOLVED: Quoting problem

Hi all, in the Why DON'T you want to get married thread, I initially responded to a post by Kit (broken into two quotes), a post by Menzo, and a post by Nick (broken into two quotes).

My quoting of Menzo and Nick was fine, but my second quoting of Kit attributed the post to Old Bob. I'm pretty sure I simply had that tag left in my clipboard, wasn't paying attention, and forgot to copy Kit's when I pasted. Kit pointed this out so I went to correct it. I edited the post attempting to insert the following:

CODE

[quote name='Kit']
text
[/quote]

When I hit complete edit not only did it fail to correct the post, but for some very strange reasons (despite the fact that I didn't touch them at all) it made the first Kit quote disappear as well AND messed up the Menzo quote.

I again went back to insert their names in the format above (which as I understand is correct and which I've used many times). Again it didn't take the correction and this time it messed up the first Nick quote (again I didn't touch the quote at all in the edit screen). I decided to leave well-enough alone before I messed up the final Nick quote.

Right now the quotes are just:

QUOTE
quotes

Which is fine with me if it's fine with them. I don't really need this fixed at all since I don't consider it a big deal and doubt they do either, but I'm very confused about what happened and also wanted to give the tech team a heads up in case this indicates a more serious, pervasive problem.

Thanks and take care smile.gif

I don't know what you did here Kev blink.gif I know that IPB scrubs nested quotes ( IE quotes with in quotes) but totally screwing up the quote Tags is something Ive never seen before. I fixed your post and labeled all the quotes accordingly. smile.gif

If it happens again, or to anyone else for that matter, please let me know smile.gif

Steve

Oh and Kevin,

Stop abusing the quote tags please. tongue.gif (Just kidding, I think it was just a copy paste mix-up but Im not sure smile.gif )

Thanks again,
Kevin
