I like all these

I hate just picking 5, and I'll inevitably be swayed by my mood, but in no particular order:
-So Hott - Kid Rock
-Beautiful - Christian Aguilera
-The Luckiest - Ben Folds
-Yesterday - The Beatles
-Life Is Beautiful - Sixx AM
So that's fairly eclectic, eh? As I said, it's pretty mood driven and I hate having to only pick 5

The list gives a link to my favourite version that I could find on youtube.
Anyway, ummm... My top five (in no real order):
1.
Stairway to Heaven - Led ZeppelinGreat song, and a song that I think is quite hopeful.
2.
Wheels of Confusion - Black SabbathComplete opposite of the 'hope' thing with stairway to heaven, but meh. There we go.
3.
Freewill - Rush4.
Fountain of Lamneth - RushAnother Rush song- this is a 20 minute long epic of there's, and there seems to be a section of it to suit almost every mood I have.
(The link is for part 1 only, but the gap between the two sections is fairly well placed)
5.
White and Nerdy - Weird AlWell, you did say songs that we relate to

I'm white and currently playing a game called 'Starport: Galactic Empires' ...

Anyway, its a great song, so meh.

You got some good taste. Cascada is one of my favourite bands, as well as DHT, and you can't not love Dragosta din tei (Numa Numa is the given title, but it's really Dragosta din tei, according to a good friend of mine who loves Romanian pop music)
So here's mine: (bear in mind- rocky relationship right now).
~"Come In With the Rain" by Taylor Swift
~"Foolish Games" by Jewel
~"Rehab" by Rihanna
~"Sober" by Kelly Clarkson for totally different reasons than you're probably thinking (yes, you. don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about

~"Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis
Yeah. Some of these songs have different impacts on me than other people because of things I've seen/read/heard, like the dance to "Bleeding Love" on the tv show So You Think You Can Dance.

I can't help but cry every time I listen to the song "The Rose" by Bette Midler. It reminds me about the fragility of love, yet the affirmation of its strength.
Some say love, it is a river, that drowns the tender reed ( A )
Some say love, it is a razor, that leaves your soul to bleed ( B )
Some say love, it is a hunger, an endless aching need ( A )
I say love, it is a flower, and you, its only seed ( B )
The first three lines in the first stanza suggest the harsh reality of love, as if love is something malicious or wounding. The last line in the stanza dispels the rumors that love has to be something painful and overwhelmingly "aching", and instead, affirms that love still exists after hardships. The definite pronoun "I" over the indefinite pronouns "some" demonstrate that the narrator is almost affirming his or her love for someone else, and that the lover does not need to worry about the vague meanings of love that people are assuming. "I", has a stronger emphasis due to it breaking the rhythm of the first word of the four lines in the first stanza. Using the indefinite pronoun some, the narrator seem to indicate a vagueness of not only the people making that claim, but the claim that is being suggested as well.
All right, I don’t want to go on with the rest haha, because I’ve got my own homework to deal with haha. But go listen to this song if you have the time.
Its the heart afraid of breaking, that never learns to dance
Its the dream afraid of waking, that never takes the chance
Its the one who wont be taken, the one who cant seem to give
And the soul afraid of dying, that never learns to live
When the night has been too lonely and the road has been too long
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong
Just remember that in the winter, far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed, that with the suns love in the spring becomes the rose.

I just got The Classic Crime's new album The Silver Cord and "Just A Man" is a great song for me at the moment at least. Haha. Just the lyrics fit in pretty well. Along with "The Way That You Are" which is very much saying kinda be who you are, and somebody loves you. Haha, its nice and makes me feel happy. And "Salt in the Snow" is yet another good one from their new album, which isn't very "encouraging" to say the least. "Echoes" by Set Your Goals, is another song that is fitting well with my situation. In all honesty, most of the songs you guys posted I've never heard. Probably because I haven't used my radio in like 8 months. (But then again, not too many of you have probably heard most of the crap I listen to.) Anyway, (no offense) I generally was massively disappointed with FOB's new album. I mean, sure some songs were okay. (Hum Hallelujiah, Don't You Know Who I Think I Am?, and The (After) Life of the Party) but in general the new album lacked the angst I grew to love from them. Don't shoot me, because the rabid bandwagon girls at my school do enough of that.

Beautiful - Christina AguileraLike its title this song really is beautiful and very uplifting. It's a song that people from all walks of life can relate to because of its message--that no matter who or what you are, you deserve to be treated with love and respect. And that is how things should be in our world.
Memory: Myself sitting in bed the summer of 2006 feeling like crap. But feeling a bit better afterwards.
Pictures of You - Last GoodnightThis song reminds me of the past, the main subject being photographs which always take me back to the good old days spent with my family and friends. I don't allow myself to regret what's happened in my life--what I did or didn't do--but there are times when I think back and go, "Hmm, I wonder how things could have turned out if I'd done this..." So yes, this song makes me nostalgic for the best and worst times in the past eighteen years.
Memory: High school building after graduation. My family, my friends. My gorgeous crush with his toga cap on.
Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Green DayMostly when I listen to this song I'm reminded of what life was like when I was much younger (13-15). I used to get very emotional (so sue me) and there'd been times when it felt like I really was walking down a "lonely road". I know, I know, corny. Whatever.
Memory: Cold. Dark. Sidewalk.
Miracle - ParamoreBrighter than the previous song, this one reflects the more optimistic side of me. I mean when I'm sad, I can be really REALLY sad. But when I'm happy...oh boy, life's a miracle. And listening to this brings back times when I felt like I could just take the plunge and not be afraid to take chances.
Memory: Mostly fantasies about a certain someone. My facial muscles hurting from smiling a lot.
Nobody's Fool - Avril LavigneMy "gay athem". This one is a personal favorite because it expresses the issues I feel strongly about and in some way sums up the experiences I've had growing up. All my life there was always someone (a LOT of someones) telling me how to be, how to act and not in a good way. It's one thing when your mother tells you to not to slouch at the dinner table and it's another when a guy at school tries to convince you that liking guys is wrong.
It's tough for everyone, having people tell you that you're wrong, trying to make you feel weak. And when I listen to this song I'm not. I'm not weak. I feel strong, confident, like I'm on top of the world. Bigoted jerks can say what they want, they can try to change me, sure. But it won't work 'cause I'm Nobody's Fool!
Sorry for the long post, I sort of got carried away.

Hmm... That's a tough question, innit?
There's many songs out there that mean something personal to me - are related to certain events in my life, or just remind me of people. But a song I can relate to?
Hmm.
James Blunt - 1973
I know, I know - "but everyone hates James Blunt!", "girl, you listen to metal!", bla bla bla. You wouldn't believe how many variations of those two sentences I've heard. But - this is a very, very personal song to me, because the first time I heard it on the radio, it was only a few weeks after I admitted to myself that I was - am - in love with a girl who was - ironically - named Simona, and it was... It was almost like a sign to me, you know? It's just special. Yeah.
MSI - Retard Song
That song is, well - retarded. No, I'm not trying to tell you something about me... XD! But if you go read the lyrics, you can see that it's actually rather sad. That's how I feel sometimes; I'm playing a clown on the outside, being all happy-go-lucky and carefree, but that's not really me, and it's hard to see that, because the darker side of my bipolarity usually shows itself through my songs and musings and stories, and people generally don't care enough to realize that.
Don't worry. I'm not emo : P.
Ladytron - Destroy everything you touch
*shrug* That's the universal truth of my life. Computers freeze when I'm in the same room, cell phones die when I borrow them, things break wherever I go. People die. Heh.
Neutral Milk Hotel - Communist Daughter
I'm not going to elaborate on this one... Some things are just too personal. But yeah; this song is me. The name, the lyrics, the melody. It just is.
Within Temptation - Running up that hill
This makes me feel at home. The first time I heard it, I almost went into a bloody trance. It just... Does. When I listen to it, I feel like I belong, like I'm wanted and at peace and home. Not the lyric itself; just the general feeling of the song. Everything together.
As for the lyrics... I'd do that for the people I love - and that's my greatest fault. The irony of my life. I'd swap our places, take their pain and suffering if I could. Sometimes, I care so little, feel so cold and emotionless, but I'm not, not really, and I'm only learning now that all this time when I thought I couldn't feel, I was wrong, because I do and I'd do anything for the ones I care about. It's the weakling in me, that caring, loving part, but... I'm just happy that I was strong enough to go through my teenage years and realize that I'm capable of love. (:
---
I agree with ANCK on this one; looking back at the songs, they seem really random and they're (mostly) not the type of songs I usually listen to, but in a way, they're all a part of me.

Five songs... why such a small amount? haha
1. Tell Me Why - Taylor SwiftObvious reasons if you listen to the song ever
2. Forever & Always - Taylor SwiftThe best song about how things could and always DO go wrong...
3. Love Story - Taylor SwiftUm yeah, the song is perfect...
4. The Average - Breathe ElectricIt just seems fitting to me, the first line is "I've got a saturday night and I'm all alone" *jumps up and down going "me, me, me!!!"*
5. The Way I Loved You - Taylor SwiftI just like this song...
Hmmm.... think I am a fan of Taylor Swift? haha

I think my list is going to be nothing like anyone else's, but...
1. Suicidio, from La Gioconda, by Ponchielli, performed by Maria Callas.
The lyrics say it all, particularly:
Eng: "Suicide! / in these terrible moments / you alone remain to me ... lost is my love / I have overcome / the fever of jealousy; / now I sink, exhausted / into darkness..."
It: "Suicidio! / In questi fieri momenti / tu sol mi resti ... perdei l'amore / vinsi l' infausta / gelosa febre! / Or piombo esausta / Fra le tenèbre..."
2. The Two Trees, lyrics by W.B. Yeats, sung by Loreena McKennitt
"Beloved, gaze in thine own heart / the holy tree is growing there..."
3. Desired Constellation, Bjork
"It's slippery when / Your sense of justice / Murmurs underneath / And you're asking: / How am I going to make this right?"
4. Io son medea, from Medea, by Cherubini, performed by Maria Callas
This is very useful when I'm feeling vengeful.
Eng: "Black furies, to me / come, give me this blood!"
It: "Atre furie, a me / date orsu questo sangue!"
5. The Second Element, Sarah Brightman
"Wasn't it you who was filling my dreams? / Everywhere, you are rife."

Not sure if I'll give explanations to these. I will say that if you asked me this question two years ago, and ask it again in a few years, my answer would be different each time. So instead of giving a completely accurate answer, which would involve a fair amount of soul-searching I'm no particular mood to do at the moment, I'll give a few songs that, at some point, were "my" songs. Not coincidentally, these are my favorite songs by these artists.
"I'll think of a reason later" -- LeeAnn Womack
"Fast Cars and Freedom" --Rascal Flatts
"Photograph" -- Nickelback
"When I'm Gone" -- Three Doors Down
"Breakaway" -- Kelly Clarkson
Bonus Track (and explanation):
"Bleed it Out" Linkin Park. Everybody who has attempted to create, and especially anyone who has tried to write, should be able to relate to this song.
Also,

5) cascada-what hurts the most
Heh. I like this version of the song too. I have rather negative connotations with the original, which as you can see from my list has nothing to do with it being a country song.
