In Paktika province, which adjoins Ghazni, two men were killed when a waistcoat they were packing with bombs for use in a suicide attack exploded, the government said.

"Two mullahs (prayer leaders) were killed when a suicide vest they were building went off prematurely," said Zemarai Bashary, spokesman for the interior ministry, which handles police matters.

The pair was in a mosque near the border with Pakistan, he said.

Two other militants were killed when a mine they were trying to plant in a road went off in the southern province of Kandahar, said police commander Abdul Raziq.

I have a question. Do these guys qualify as martyrs? I mean do they get the 72 virgins? Or does their failure to take infidels with them serve as a disqualification? The two mullahs also disenfranchised others from becoming martyrs, since the belts they were assembling were almost certainly intended for someone else to wear.

Well, they are arguably fanatics. They are certainly disenfranchised with the world at large mostly due to their socio-economic situations. It's truly sad that this violence does not stop. We will never have peace as long as such brutal attacks occur.

By the way, I decided to move this topic and make a slight name change due to the political nature. smile.gif

Like Yassir Arafat, they were in for a big surprise.

Some scholars of the Qu'ran note that linguistic and contextual evidence suggest that it says "raisins" rather than "virgins." But they are really nice raisins, white, very clear.

And don't gloat if you're gay. It seems that the "youths' promised in another spot are more likely chilled grapes.

Radical Islam and Christian fundamentalism have a lot in common. Over the centuries, so much blood has been spilled. I'm sure there are plenty of examples of plots back-firing on the perpetrators of the violence in the name of <insert name of deity>. The Christians had their Crusades in the Middle Ages. I do believe in karma or at least something similar to the concept. Those who are evil will eventually pay for what they have done. Apparently, these evil, yet moronic religious leaders got exactly what they deserved, and I am glad. Hypocrisy is one of the worst problems in religion. If religious leaders properly interpreted the words, taught them correctly, and lived up to the standards, there would be a lot less bloodshed in the world. Then again, there would not be as many changes to say, "Here's your sign!" withstupidsmiley.gif
