Hi all,

I wanted to direct your attention to the following article which I enjoyed and hope you will as well:

More gay men embrace marriage and fatherhood

That would be great, Kevin. However, it is unlikely for a lot of us to be able to afford the $150,000-cost of finding a surrogate to produce offspring. Thus, there aren't many who are able to take that route. It's definitely not simple. I would love to be a father at some point in time, but I don't have that kind of money. Maybe someday I will. Who knows?

Or perhaps someday it won't be so expensive. I think one of the main ideas of the article is that parenting options for gays are getting easier and more numerous. I hope that corresponds to a reduction in cost as well.

In England, a surrogate is legally only allowed to claim expenses and cannot ask for an actual fee. However, I am sure many get around that law. My sister-in-law is a surrogate. She's had 10 surrogate babies, but at 42 is about to call it a day. I can't say I blame her!! The thought of having so many pregnancies, plus the 2 children she has kept..... blink.gif

In Quebec, it's illegal to have surrogate mothers.

Shit... I don't want to have my baby born in Ontario.

I can't afford it anyway.

cool.gif ........The expense is atrocious and ludicrous, the children should be first! and always first, too many stories are out there where Str8 couples have abandoned, abused and neglected their own. I think all people should have to have some sort of parenting course in today's world.

*sigh*

Sad, but true. sad.gif Unfortunately, the people who would need a parenting course the most are often the ones who wouldn't bother paying attention during that course.....

That's very true Graeme. I sometimes wonder why some people have children.

There are so many wonderful people out there who would make great parents to children who are in desperate need of a loving parent, or parents. However, in England, the adoption laws are so tight that many would be parents are refused.

Lots of people can breed, and some of those really shouldn't, in my opinion.
