I have deployed the new skin for mass testing.
Please let me know if you have any problems.

So far is works just fine. I'm on Firefox 3.0.1. I have been able to go into chat with the new skin. I have also checked my blog. Great job Myr and Steph! It looks great, and it seems to be working well so far. You both deserve a round of applause.

When I went to the main forum page, I was redirected to my control panel with instructions that I had to change my time zone settings. It took a few tries but I finally found one that didn't generate an error message.
Very odd...

Only thing I see so far that doesn't work is commenting on a persons page you hit save and nothing shows up. have to switch to the old skin.
Tiger
August 24 2008, 09:18 AM
I had the same problem that Drew had. It was bound to have a few problems. That's just how life goes sometimes. I cannot confirm Dion's because I have had my time zone set for a while now.

I just sent a PM to someone with an attachment. I had to change back to the older skin in order to attach the file.
Added: Editing posts doesn't seem to work either. Also, people using the skin do not show up as being on chat even when their sign-in is supposed to be visible.
edit check

August 24 2008, 05:32 PM
Edit appears to be working fine for me, The only thing I have noticed, and it may be unrelated as I have only seen it on one profile, Is profiles not displaying posts or topics started for users.
Checked four more profiles at random. Same issue is coming up, the menu system that allows you to toggle between posts topics gallery comments etc is not operative under this skin.
Tiger
August 24 2008, 06:41 PM
Well, it may be a browser issue. It does not seem to work with the latest Firefox. I have not checked it on any other browser. I can go ahead and try it on my other browser.
Added: It seems to work on full edit for me but not quick edit. I am on an IE-based browser right now. It may be some other issue, but it isn't a non-existent one.
shadowgod
August 24 2008, 07:04 PM
I never said it was non-existent merely reported that it was working on my end.
Ill agree though, quick edit doesnt seem to be working on Firefox
Myr
August 25 2008, 08:41 AM
Okay. I figured out the problem and fixed it. The quick edit, comments, friends, etc all work again.
Sorry for the delay.

I like the new Skin as it goes right along with the Archive and it's more functional this way, so after all the bugs are tweaked and such (which I've not found anymore since the last comments) it should be a lot better than the old skin.
It also looks more professional and I like the colors.

All of the Gay Authors main pages will be updated to this skin. I'm working on the programming required to correctly hilight the right menu item.

I set mine when I joined up. Now it's only happy if I set it 4 or 5 hours off. It doesn't matter to me, though.
Thank you for all your hard work, Myr. The new skin looks spiffy!

I couldn't help but notice there is no button linking to e-fiction from the forums. Perhaps I have missed it, and I'll apologize in advance

. If it indeed is not there, was this intended? I know it would make it much more accessible if a button was added.
Maddy (:
Tiger
August 27 2008, 03:56 PM
Maddy, you did not miss it. There really is not a link for E-fiction. You have to navigate to the homepage to find a link to E-fiction.
Madrigal
August 27 2008, 04:02 PM
Well, then I'll propose that a button linking to E-fiction from the main forums is added. I don't think I've visited the homepage for like a month O.o...

Come to think of it, there isn't a link to the list of hosted, shared hosted, and promising authors either.

Each of these items will be on the Readers submenu. Once the new menu is rolled out to the main site, the navigation will make more sense. Unfortunately, the Tech Team does not have the bandwidth to make changes everywhere at once.
I'll also discuss with Myr about possibly adding a rollover nav for the Readers submenu. In the meantime, thanks for your patience.

Yes, I was thinking something along the same lines as Tim and Maddy then I realized that right now the "community" tab was selected and that's the only one that's been updated yet.
I think it looks great and I'm happily awaiting future updates

Ah, that makes a lot more sense, Steph. I was under the assumption that the new skin was a finished product XD. Thank you for the reply

Something I just noticed. I was trying to edit one of my comments in a blog with the new skin on. The box that says 'quick edit' and 'full edit' did not show up, and nothing happened on the page. I switched to the old skin, and it worked fine for me. In the new skin, if I right clicked the edit link and clicked open in new tap, then I was able to edit the comment.
The new skin really does look great thogh, I like the colors.
Kurt
EDIT: Okay, I tried it again with the new skin, and when you click the edit link, the page gets really big, and if you scroll to the very bottom and as far as you can go to the right, then the 'quick/full edit' thing shows up. Weird.

Looks like the attach button is hidden outside of the frame. For now, if you maximize your browser window, it should appear, depending on the width of your screen.

It does not on mine. It is not wide enough. I'm on a laptop. I just switch to an older skin when I need to upload something.

okay, in the meantime I have a better workaround for you guys... maximize your browser, so you see part of the textbox directly across from "Select a File". click inside that box and hit tab. it automatically scrolled over for me in FF2, and I could click on the Browse button. hitting tab again gets you the upload button.

I had the same problem when I went to send a pm with an attachment. I was using my laptop at the time which gives me a wider view than my desktop. The browse button was there but not the upload button. I switched skins and it was fine.

arg... hit tab again to see the upload button

I just used Tab, and it worked. Thus, I conclude that it is manageable but only in full screen.

Steph addressed the issue. If you press the browse button and add a file, you can press the Tab key and that allows you to see the upload button.

Steph, that's genius! It worked like magic!

While you're putting out fires, lol, I've been having an issue whereby I click on the number of posts next to a topic, which normally brings up a pop up box of who posted in the thread and how many times they posted. It does bring up the box, but it's all weird and has to be scrolled way across. Actually the pop up emoticon box does this too. It might not sound problematic on the surface, but it's tough because you can't actually see the number (or code for the smiley) next to the poster (or graphic of the smiley). You have to try to remember what the 4th thing down corresponds to or something (and while I have an awesome long term memory and a solid short term memory, but 'working memory' is pretty cruddy).

Okay. After some experimentation, I think I have the issue corrected. Do a forced refresh (control-F5) on any page that is still having issues. (like the pop up smilie box)
Let me know if you are still having issues. (along with browser and browser version you are using)
Thanks

Another Skin Issue popping up with Firefox 2.0.
When editing a comment in the blogs, the little box that pops up and say full edit / quick edit jumps all the way down in the right hand corner of the page. It may appear that the menu has not appeared at all, but in reality it extends the width of the window.
