Most people use the subjunctive, at least in its most common forms, but few know

a - when they're using it.

b - some of the rarities.

I wanted to impress everyone by listing all the examples, but I think a more trenchant understanding will be reached by each of you if you follow this link: HOT TITS XXX. actually just english grammar.

Thanks for the link, Billy. As it happens I'm fairly well acquainted with the subjunctive. Indeed, if I were to quit using it people would worry.

I'll check that out nevertheless though smile.gif

Funny, I learned about the subjunctive in high school French instead of high school English! One example the link didn't provide that most people use incorrectly is: "If I were king, I'd make everyone bow to me."

Yes, exactly. I find it interesting that most people (or at least more people) would correctly phrase the comparable "If I were you, I'd..." construction, but if they were anything else other than you, people tend to say 'If I WAS' wacko.gif

Kev, this is a mistake even I used to make up until grade 10, when the English teacher corrected the whole class.

If he were not there to correct me, I would still have been using the wrong grammar... tongue.gif laugh.gif

You kinky little beast, you!

89%, BTW.

93%... And I disagree with some of the results... There can be words other than the answers that can be used and still be grammatically correct...

Even cheating a bit, I couldn't get past 81%.

96%, except that a couple of them could be more than one answer, IMHO.

The link in the original message leads to an excellent resource; that the web site is designed for ESL (English as a Second Language) makes it easy to use for those of us who've been out of school for half their lifes. Thanks.
