Software Update. site Down Saturday for an hour or so

The site will be down on Saturday December 15th for about 1 hour from about 8 am to about 9 am EST.

We are updating the software on the forums to IP.Board 3.4.1 and deploying some fixes for GA.Stories. (one of those fixes is already working. if you set the post time for a chapter, it properly triggers a notification of that chapter being posted when it posts)

Hacker Attack Update

All:
I have installed a new firewall on the server. It is set to automatically block attacking IP's and pre-block known troublemakers. This has allowed me to remove the blanket country blocks.

Hopefully, this will address the issues we have been experiencing.

2011 Gay Authors Novella Contest

We at Gay Authors are proud to announce our 2011 Novella Contest!

General Rules:

Authors must be a member on or before the entry deadline. Authors may only submit their own original work.
All entries will be anonymous for voting purposes (records will be kept by a non-voting member of the admin/moderation team). This is to keep everyone on an even playing field.
- a. People who violate the anonymity of the posted works will be disqualified from the prizes.
- b. Authors may work with their “team” but they and their teams MUST keep the details of the work private amongst themselves.
There are two genres you may enter under: General Fiction or Sci-fi/Fantasy
- a. You have to write something original that does not tie back into works you've already posted.
- b. There will be no specific theme to write to.
- c. You may have more than one entry.
The content will be Novella length:
- a. Length Minimum = 30,000 Words
- b. Length Maximum = 75,000 Words
There will be cash and non-cash prizes.
All formatting must be GA Stories Compliant – bold, italics, underline etc. – only
The contest end date is 11:59 p.m. June 30, 2011 GMT.

DKing23's Stories

It is our sad duty to report another case of plagiarism. In this particular case, the member DKing23 didn't just steal one story, but appears to have stolen many stories, and possibly all of the more than twenty stories posted. We have confirmed stories from four different authors that were stolen, and we're still investigating the rest within indications that stories have been stolen from at least another six people.

We would like to thank the members who identified the stolen stories, and apologise to the authors whose stories were stolen.

We are offering the authors the option to move the stories to their name, or to simply remove the stories. This means that you may see stories that were originally listed as having DKing23 as the author reappearing under new authors and, in many cases, new names (the original names of the stories). These will be stories being reassigned to their real authors. Please welcome these authors and give them the accolades that DKing23 had stolen.

Please, if you ever think a story has been plagiarised, report it immediately. If you can confirm it has been stolen, great, but please report it even if you're not sure. We'll investigate and take any action required.
