Now we know a little bit more more about how Cody is feeling about Zach. And he's still confused about Joe.

B) ............Cody may be confused about Zach, but it is Joe who is confused about Cody. A lot of evil confusion is being spread around here. Just a little cliffhanger, I wonder who was that body Joe almost tripped over?? <_< Was it Cody's brother?? Or Jonathon's corpse?

Both are confused I agree. I do hope that Zach will find his own man if it's not with Cody.

We going to see Jacob and Matt soon?

Thanks Benji, I was wondering about who the body was, but I believe Jonathan met his end in a dirty, disgusting bathroom. I had forgot about his brother :worship: .

And I will have to disagree, no cliffhanger. I believe it was more of what CJ would describe as a 'tense ending'. :D .

And we all know that CJ doesn't use cliffhangers.

Yeah, right. And if anyone believes that, I've got some nice water front property in Florida I'll sell you.

B) ........You got to be serious here, ahem, Cody's refusal to take Jonathon's calls have led to dire straits for our Cody. He would be racked with grief knowing that at the end of Jonathon's life his last phone calls were made in vain. His guilt will be insurmountable on top of his already 'F' up outlook upon himself. Cody is in danger, his self-esteem is already low, his love life is confused, his parents have abandoned him, his brothers whereabouts unknown. Very confusing events lay ahead, and then an unidentified body outside Cody's work, well "Cliffy"!!

Hey, that is more believable than the ocean front property that CJ was trying to sell me in Arizona :D .

Question, didn't the discription of Jonathan shooting up creep you out? It did for me

Some it would bother, but not me. When you check your blood sugar six times daily and then give yourself injections, you can get used to it. But at least I've been able to reduce the number of injection sites to changing the pump location every few days.

A very earth-shaking chapter!

Anyone notice the title: Leaving the Nest? That means it is very, very significant in many ways, and there is a dark subtext here, which I'll explain lower down.

Beautifully done as always!

May I quote you?

Yes indeed! Cody is vulnerable, to guilt above all else.

When he finds out (and he shall, there are far too many ways, including police investigating the drugs) he will be wracked by guilt, thinking that, if only he'd ansered the call, Jonathon would not have killed himself.

Remember, WE know that Jonathon wasn't suicidal, but Cody doesn't. How must it look to him... The phone calls, then the death. He'll think that Jonathon was reaching out, one last, desperate cry for help, which Cody refused, and indeed the very act of said refusal may have pushed Johnathon over the edge, into the stygian abyss. Oh, BTW, notice the wording there, the last we see (and likly shall ever see) of Jonathon? Stygian... Stygian darkness... Stygian, of course, means extreem dark and gloom, and also inferal or hellish. The Shady one, also known as Dark Evil Incarnate, and also as Satan, he of the blackest of hearts, was telling us, in no uncertain terms, where Jonathon is destined for, and indeed, what dark entity sent him there. Furthermore, the word Stygian is most oft used as "Stygian Abyss", and what looms over the Stygian Abyss, why, the Stygian cliffs, of course! YEs, in his own subtle way, he's signing his masterpiece, the ultimate cliffhanger, a veritable Sword of Damocles posed over poor Cody's head, for Satan-only-knows how long!

It is deeply subtle, but think it through; Cody is now in the greatest of mortal danger, teetering on the very edge of the abyss, for at any moment he may hear of Jonathon, and his suceptability to guilt and self-hate will spell his utter doom.

YEs, this, indeed, is a cliffhanger, one that may well do what I'd long thought impossible; surpass that of the greatest of literary cliffhangers, LiS 26!

All hail the once and future King, Shadowgod, for weaving true mastery, subtlety, multiple shades of meaning, into the ultimate cliffhanger, all the more devastating for the fact that it will continue to be a cliffhanger for however many chapters his Shadowyness wishes. It is indeed the perpetual cliffhanger until that dark day of revaluation.

Question, didn't the description of Jonathan shooting up creep you out? It did for me

Yes. Agree there. It fit perfectly IMHO. That entire scene had an air of evil to it, a sense of dark foreboding, and all-too-spooky details. Poor Johnathon... :(

(I also note that the author's already-high body count just went up...)

Hrmmm... I also noticed a possibler interplay, endings and begginings.. An end, a very final one, for Jonathon, and thus Jonathon and Cody, interposed with the possible beginnings for Cody and Zack. And, ummm, what of poor Joe? And also, THAT BODY IN THE DOORWAY!!

This sounds amazingly like something CJ said in a conversation last week....

HA! I note here the skilled attempt at misdirection from the subject at hand!

"fess up, Shadowyness.. You have crafted the ultimate cliffhanger!

B) ...............CJ and Benji are not the same!!!!!, however our Shadowyness does tend to lead some of our flock towards believing that his portrayal of (very late tale) that all things are all fine, but that injured characters are nothing but supercilious in there quest along the story lines. Dastardly I tell you, this is an attempt for an an assassination our beloved Cody characters, as Cody try's to attempt to reconcile his past. The plot thickens with the un-discovered identity of a body at the foot of Cody's shop, is it Jonothan or is it his missing brother?? It is amazing to me that Joe has no part in this sexual escapae, he is straight and confused. Zach is nothing morre then a fleeting memory, Jonothan is, well history. Codey should stick to making bagels, it is less messy, and non-conflicting in this confusing chapter that his Shadowyness has laid out for us.

CJ,

you want to talk about misdirection.... perhaps I should attach the original word file where you added Stygian

Its rather hypocritical to accuse someone of misdirection and then use the tactic you you you four legged politico! :pissed:

PS you guys aren't helping your two separate people clause by posting in rapid succession...

I pose one more piece of evidence. CJ was supposed to go to Dallas 2008. but he didn't, Benji did. Coincidence... Maybe. but they both hail from the desert.

My G_d, that post is a chapter in itself :D .

CJ (and Benji perhaps  ), I do believe that you are starting to suffer from Asphyxia from the lack of oxygen up on that huge cliff you live. It seems that you have begun to have delusions. Careful where you step, we wouldn't want you to be a victim of your own cliff.

Now my feelings on some of the stuff that you said.

I think it was a great time for Jonathan to exit the story. The one quality that kept him there was that he was the only one that 'came back' in Cody's words. Now that Zack has come back, there really isn't need for Jonathan and all of his baggage to be still around. Things are definitely for the better with Zack than with Jonathan.

Will Cody even know if he is dead? Probably not. He'll just be another anonymous suicide by drug overdose in a city that probably has multiple ones every day. Cody knows he tried to call him, but remember he ignored him before when he called and then banged on his door in the middle of the night. Cody will probably just think he has moved on and life will do the same.

Why do you see things that nobody else sees? Could it be you're adding subplots to Steve's stories? Is it time to accuse the accuser? :P

........... :o ...What you have already killed off Jonathon?? We haven't ascertained the body yet!! And as anonymous person even?? Was not this person was a part of Codey's Life? No matter how significant he was still a part of Codey's life. So dismissing him as a drug addicted overdose does not play well here that Codey would ignore as a part of the street life in front of him. You have played well into his Shadowynes's evil ways, his misdirection and ploys have led you astray!!

CJ, er I mean Benji, :P

CJ has obviously made his way done to Vegas and somehow had you look into his eyes :o .

We will help you if you try to help yourself. Don't believe what the goat is bleating.

Yes he was part of his life, but obviously not a good part of it. Don't you think that Cody will be better off without him?

I know it sounds shallow, but do you think that this was the first and second time that Jonathan has used heroin? I would venture since he was so familiar with all the contents of the attach

B) ...............But of course Shadowyness Wildone, However I think in this is a scenario, it leads credence that Jonathan's try at heroin is maybe his first, he doesn't seem toi know what he is doing. He copies what another has done for him, stole the stash and tried to re-create the scene. In reality, his overdoase is very pausable, not knowing what he took or how much. Codey is better off without Jonathon, but he was still a part of Codey's life, imagine getting and ignoring those phone calls prior to his death. The body outside the 'cafe' is probably Codey's brother. Jonathon is most likely dead in a gas station restroom.

Nope, Jonathan is a habitual user:

CJ, you can quote me ONLY if you quote the whole statement.

Cody may feel guilty for not answering the phone and talking to Jonathan. Would he feel any less guilty if he had talked to him and he dies of an overdose. At this point, we don't know if he has died.

At this point, I'd have to say that it's his brother that Joe trips over. He was waiting for the story to open.
