Thanks Emoe!

And for everyone else, while Dan hasn't started Inheritance yet, he has been talking to me about specific elements of the book that he's been mentally developing. So whereas for a little while, this was more on the back burner, it may start getting fleshed out soon(ish). He also has some ideas about book three of Dreams of a Father, but that one is likely to be after Rich Boy. Now of course, this is all subject to change as with any other writer, he may get inspired by something (or fail to be inspired and have to put it on hold) and there is no set "schedule" - but lol - as I am pushing him MYSELF for these stories, I know how all of the rest of you feel as well.

Can't wait to read the next installation of Rich Boy, and really think Dan should publish this series as it's VERY good. I'd buy copies just to give them to friends XD. RB is on my facebook profile and a couple others...

In personal news I applied for an inter-company position/transfer/promotion from Atlanta to Sacramento. I doubt I have a decent chance of getting it, but if you hear of some crazy Georgia boy in town getting everyone riled up... Well... XD.

Just another fan of Dan's writing, and especially Rich Boy. I'm very much looking forward to Inheritance and echoing Linxe, I'll be looking for a heads-up so I can re-read the series. Thanks for the great tale, Dan!

I see that no one has posted on this topic in a while. I really am looking forward to reading the next installment of Rich Boy. I've recently re-read both of the current installments, and now I'm ready for more.

I'm sure he'll get back to it eventually. From my understanding, Dan's life is pretty hectic right now.

Have you had the opportunity to read The Goon or The Beard, both by dkstories?

I know if you are a fan like I am, it won't take you long to fly through these two stories (The Goon is still being released) but it might ease up on the withdrawal symptoms of not having the next Rich Boy Story.

Enjoy

It looks like it's been a little over a year since the first post.

I just found this website and I have to say that Dan's novels are very inspiring. After reading RB and The Bully, I and many others are waiting for Dan to begin on DB:I soon.

Please continue your great work and we'll all be excited when the chapters are released.

I would like to add my hopes that dkstories continue the Rich Boy story with Inheritance. Over the years (I am 74 years old) I have religiously read his stories with GREAT enjoyment, so I surely hope he can find the time to continue this great effort. If I sound like I am begging and pleading, I AM!

Well, thank the gods you're still around! I think Inheritance has been waiting on the right sound track. Listening to A Thousand Suns keeps bringing Worthington, Jamie, Brandon, Kyle and several others back to mind so you might see it once I get the ones I've started at the moment finished. It's the busy season with work, but I seem to do the most writing between October and February, so it's reasonable to hope I can get the four main stories on my backlog list completed.

Why the writing cycle works that way, I don't know, but last year I wrote every story you guys have seen since October 2009 to know between September 2009 and February 2010. Sign, Rising Star, Vampire Jarred, and Goon all came out of that burst of writing (editing was a different story). Since March I've started and stopped on eight different stories, one of them even getting to 11 chapters before I killed it off for good (one of the good things about doing stories so that I don't put them out there until they are finished is there are no more Dawn of Tears situations again).

There are four stories currently on my to-do list that I'm going to do my best ot focus on first and foremost.

Oh, you want the list? Okay...

1. Hard Knocks (third in the Sign series for those that have read them in the Premium Section)

2. Off the Beaten Path (a stand alone novel-length fantasy story that will be in the Premium section).

3. Rich Boy Inheritance (sadly I'll have to go back and reread the first two before starting to write. I fear not doing so will greatly corrupt the continuity. I've actually started the first chapter three or four times but keep getting interrupted and then lose motivation to get it going again. If the characters aren't talking to me, it's hard to write their story and it seems like Worthy's more interested in snogging Kyle than talking to me).

4. Dreams of a Son (this one is much the same as rich boy as far as getting into it, but I've actually gotten more than one chapter of it done - I just have to find uninterrupted time to get the stories out).

For those that don't know, Trebs and I have had a very busy couple of years since 2007. We no sooner finished dealing with the aftereffects of chemo and Treb's bone marrow transplant than we really had to start dealing with the worsening situation with my sister. Now we've got the kids permanently and I've spent most of the year trying to settle into the new facts of our lives.

Oddly enough, having kids in the house doesn't exactly lend itself to lots of quality writing time. It's very rare I find time to write without being interrupted, and when I'm interrupted I may not go back to a story. If Rich boy and Dreams weren't the last part of a cycle, they'd never see the light of day because I'd have given up by now. A lot of the time I'll get a story started and then it will be weeks before I go back to it because of constant interruptions. After trying to write a chapter ten or fifteen times and never finishing because I'm always interrupted, I just let the story die.

Can't do it with those two though.

OH, and as an example, while writing this post I've been interrupted fifteen times. Not all of those were the kids, and I'm not including the constant interruptions from Tyler and Adam chatting while playing Call of Duty or me just now yelling at them for breaking my concentration as I'm writing this very sentence (three times I was stopped).

Yeah, it's a bit of a whine, but if you're wondering why things have slowed down, this is a big part of it. Good news is that kids are back in school now. Bad news is that my clients are keeping me busy all day. And all night sometimes too. Looks like tonight be one of those nights. *sigh* Glad you folks are still around, and yes, I will get these stories done, and even more importantly, I appreciate everyone's patience. When I see these posts I am reminded why I enjoy writing these stories and maybe finding more time to write becomes possible. (oh, and between the sigh and this, there were two more interruptions - 1 a client and 1 my nephew's friend making a rather loud noise when Tyler screwed up online...)

double sigh

How do other authors manage it when they have kids?
