Mann Ramblings
Just to let people know... Luxorian Fugitive is coming to a close. The last chapter will post this weekend and it makes me a little sad. This has been a fantastic journey and I'm very flattered by all the feedback I've received. So much work has gone into this tale, it's going to feel a little weird to not be working on it any more. However, I am not leaving the world of the Santa Claus crew alone. If you've noticed, I've added a "Book 1" tag to the title this week. I plan on coming back to this universe form time to time because it just has too many options to explore. My next story will be a personal story of a new crew member called, "A Cook's Tale." I am currently in the writing process and hopefully will begin posting soon. Follow me through the author/profile page to be up to date when the first chapter hits. I have a number of story ideas I want to pursue and another more epic story in the Santa Claus tales is in the list. I also want to give a personal thank you to my editor, MJ85. Without his help, the story may have taken a different path and quite honestly it's much better due to his influence. Thank you all for making this such a huge success for me! 4 Link to comment
knotme
A current topic on unresolved endingshttps://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37940-a-winner-is-you-endings/(in the member Q & A forum ??? never mind) made me think of your story. Leshwar and I got a little off topic into premature or abrupt endings, and I thought about how different genres of plot lines want different speeds of resolution. I pigeon-holed The Luxorian Fugitive as an action thriller because that plot line dictates the placement and speed of the denouement, but you also juggled at least four interpersonal relationships on the ship alone. (You didn't flesh out the relationships off ship, and I'm glad you didn't, because that could have bloated the story.) None of these relationships can be resolved as fast as the thrilling rescue plot line because people just aren't like that. Of the four, the Marc-Liam pairing was the most difficult and needed the most time to explain and resolve. Yet the story felt satisfactorily resolved on all fronts to me. Actually, I didn't think much about it at the time. The staging of multiple plot lines is almost transparent when done well, but now that I think about it, I'm impressed. Did you painstakingly architect the plot lines, or did this just happen? Link to comment
Mann Ramblings
I really did plan it all. The relationships grew as the plot was being fleshed out, but the entire plotline was basically written before I started typing anything at all. I have a need to pre-plan as much as possible before starting. I still allow for revision, but need to prevent the writing from veering off in a direction I can't steer back. All the relationships were linked together to try to make it all necessary and not just stuck on for the sake of leaving no one alone. That would just be too silly. I like there to be a reason for all of it, even if a plot device serves as a red herring to keep the reader's attention. Thanks for the comments. I am very proud of how well Luxorian came out and how many positive reviews and comments came from it. That's the kind of thing that keeps us all writing.
