So what is your favorite futuristic weapon? How real is it?

In my fiction there are three types of weapons:

 

Mag Guns: Often called rail guns, a chunk of depleted uranium jacketed in steel is accelerated to a significant fraction of light speed.

 

Missiles: There are a wide variety of missiles deployed by different types of platforms. Warheads vary by mission profile.

 

Mass Drivers: Fire big rocks at planetary targets to kill people and break things quite efficiently.

 

 

Mag Guns and Mass Drivers take their power from the equation E_k=mv²/2 where m=mass and v=velocity.

 

As the velocity gets larger, the kinetic energy grows exponentially.
