Hi all!

This is my discussion thread for Button. Let me know what you think. Tell me what issues you think Craig, Graham, and Button may face. This is a live story and I'd love to here what problems could arise.

Here is the first chapter https://www.gayauthors.org/story/cole-matthews/button

Here is the chapter where they met https://www.gayauthors.org/story/cole-matthews/1550loringlane/6

Would you recommend that people read 1550 Loring Lane first, or will Button be standalone even if it involves the same characters?

It stands alone. Reading that chapter gives a reader a sense of how they met and what the relationship is. It can be done at anytime. Thanks for the question!

I should also note, the chapters in 1550 Loring Lane are themselves short stories. They are prompt stories that are connected by a fictional place. I find random tweets on Twitter and write a story based on how those words inspire me. You don't need to read all the stories, though of course you can! :)

I really liked the story so far. Button is very cute and has loving dads. Looking forward reading more about Button and people around him.

:2thumbs: I love stories about non traditional families and this is fantastic. I see much more of it in tv now but not very much in writing. Good on you for that. His dad's have a great relationship and Button has a fantastic family to grow up in. Nice work!

I so agree with you Astro.  Cole is doing an awesome job telling the story.  It's beautiful :)

I just finished the rough drafts of chapters five and six. As tantalizers, the titles are Five for Fighting and Six Feet Under. I am so enjoying these characters.

I'm waiting on Ran to read, then will send to Zandra. You'll have by the weekend. It's heating up. We see more of Button's issues and a wrinkle involving his custody.

Finished with chapter eight, rough draft at least.  Chapter nine will transition from Craig and Graham centric to Button's perspective. And, we will meet an antagonist in A Stitch in Time Saves Nine!

Okay, Seventeen Year Old Virgin and Eighteen Wheeler rough drafts are in the can. I cried writing these chapters. I'm a big softie. I'm overwhelmed with your reception of him. Thank you and let me know what you think. I love to hear from you. :)

Nineteenth Nervous Breakdown is done. Just got the last chapter of Button started. I'm sad to say goodbye to the storyline.

Eighteen Wheeler is sad but it was coming. I was weepy writing it because I'm getting near the end. I love the storyline but it is coming to an end as all must do. Necessarily so. :)

I sent November 20th the last chapter of Button to Jo Ann for beta reading. Nineteenth Nervous Breakdown is still being revised but Eighteen Wheeler is ready for next Sunday. As a side note, I have secured an undisclosed location to hide out. Chapter 18 is pretty tough. I'm just warning readers.

Ack, sorry for screwing up my review, Cole!

You did a really nice job of addressing all the messy tangle of emotions that bystanders have to deal with in situations like this. Poor Button's jealousy, Brent's fear... really great.

I'm wondering if the cocoa puffs were from Kevin, and what on earth he'll do now... Could Brent ever separate the thought of Kevin from the moment of Andy's death, enough to be friends again?

Thanks Irritable1! Good questions. Kevin was not at the funeral. He appears again in Button but only as anecdotes. Kevin will probably be in the sequel. I'm not sure Brent makes that connection but it's a logical one!

thanks for the comments and food for thought.
