Sky's The Limit By Captainrick

Recommended Posts

Hi

At the end of the last chapter of 'Sky's The Limit' the author 'Captainrick' tells there is a 2nd book.

As it was written/posted in 2006 I guess it was on the former site.

And the author Captainrick has not been on his profile since long.

Any possibility getting that 2nd book here again ?

Please suggestions and if someone would be able to post it here again...

Love

There's a bit of a history about why there aren't many likes on the story.

Before Myr developed the current Stories software (in late 2010 and early 2011), a huge great lot of the stories were stored in a system called "efiction", which was a bolt-on, and was used for any authors that didn't have "Hosted" status. The efiction software didn't integrate with the rest of the site at all. Captainrick used the efiction system to post "The Sky's The Limit", long before the new story system came online.

When GA's custom story software went live, there was a huge effort to get authors to migrate their stories over to the new system, but not all authors responded. As a result, a lot of the stories were migrated by a volunteer staff so they could be part of the new system, in bulk. Most of these stories never got any publicity as they migrated, so they don't have any (or very many) likes. You can often tell these stories by their publish dates, whih are in mid-January 2011, since that's when the migration was done.

The solution is obvious: everyone should go back and read the old stories, giving them lots of reviews and likes :)

Hi Andy:

I'm not sure why it's not on GA, but you can find Book 2 at awesomedude, here: http://www.awesomedude.com/captain_rick/SKY/index-2.htm

Hope that helps!

Thank you for the link.

And also thank you for this information. I'm sure more people will look at the older stories.

Thanks Gene :) From the description, it sounds like a great read  I'll read it this weekend and make sure to like and review.

Hey Andrew

I hope it was a good read... I liked it ... :read:

And yes it is sad it has so little likes.

Unfortunately the author is not very active the last few years... :,(

I would have loved to read more... as there are so many open ends in those two stories.

But who knows...

Have a good time reading... and in normal life as well :wizard:

I've recently read the story and gave it as many likes as I could spare (never enough likes, lol), but I have to admit that spending time writing reviews for an author who is no longer active on GA, is not so attractive. After all, there are plenty of good stories from current authors, many of them new, and I'd much rather give their efforts my attention.

But the advice about going back and reading old stories is excellent.

Hi Timothy

I have no idea why 'captainrick' is not on the forums or writing any more.

But if you can focus on the story and you liked it...

Maybe the likes either makes him write again or it might be  a (hmmm and.... I do not know if I say this the right way) a... post mortem... support... But I hope he is still alive and kicking...
