Like many gay men of my generation, I did what I thought I was supposed to do - I dated women, fell in love and got married. For twenty years I stayed in the closet, keeping my sexuality a secret. A mid-career job change forced me to reevaluate my life. I decided I needed to be honest - with my wife and with myself. My story, The New Job, is a fictionalized account of my coming out to my wife. Coming out to her was one of the most difficult things I've ever done. Although I wouldn't say she's embraced the situation, she's been accepting, and understanding, and we're still very much in love.
