Introduction

Gay Authors' Newsletter GAzette is back after a year long hiatus. We are working on making this Newsletter successful. There have been a lot of changes taking place since the last Newsletter was posted, but the goals of this newsletter remain the same. Gay Authors would like to keep Members informed via e-mails, plus some added enjoyable extras along the way.

This year, 2008, marks the five year Anniversary for Gay Authors. Starting out as a small community, a vision, and with the lasting dedication by Myr, and his supporting cast, Gay Authors has steadily grown to the community we now see today. This year Gay Authors surpassed 5,000 members. The site now hosts twenty-two authors, five shared hosted authors, and now an expanded nine authors for the up and coming promising authors. The authors bring their own original writings to Gay Authors. Along with the recognized authors, we also, have a booming number of stories being shared through eFiction, which now has over 417 stories written by 174 authors.

NEW AUTHORS

Also, Gay Authors has seen an explosion of new recognized authors. With seven Promising authors and three new Hosted authors added so far this year. Here are the links to their stories, and for the Hosted Authors, their forums are also included.

Altimexis: Site Forum

Altimexis' stories typically deal with high school, coming out and falling in love. Naptown Tales is a series of short stories centered in a conservative Midwestern American city. Love in a Chair is the first novel in a three-part series dealing with gay youth with disabilities. When Aaron and Brian met, the future looked bright and full of promise until a tragic accident left one of them in a wheelchair. Out on a Limb continues the story with Jeff, a remarkable young man who stares death in the eye not once, but twice when faced with a hate crime, and then cancer. He is a true survivor and an inspiration.

Krista: Site Forum

Krista's Stories brings you the stories like, "Are You Christian," "He Got To Me," "Roommates," "Good Guys Finish Last," "Something Unexpected," with also a growing collection of short stories, including, "Left Behind," "My Halloween Surprise," and, "My Sleeping Beauty." If you're looking for romance, with a hint of comedy, hardships, and drama surrounding the characters in these stories then come on in and enjoy. You will also find links to the author's forum and blog.

MEMBER INTERVIEW

For this special Anniversary Newsletter we have interviewed someone who has been with us since the beginning. Moonwolf has given up a few minutes to add a little insight from a Member's perspective about how Gay Authors has grown so that members old and new can better understand the community.

GA: How did you find Gay Authors?

Moonwolf: Through Comicality's links.

GA: What was GA when it first started?

Moonwolf: A little family getting bigger. Just never thought it would get this big.

GA: Who was the first Author you read?

Moonwolf: Oh my gosh, I just can't remember that one but it would be either Comicality or Iomfats.

GA: Were you part of an early project at GA?

Moonwolf: Nope

GA: How do you find the environment here at GA in terms of community?

Moonwolf: It's a place for everything from talking about serious stuff to reading stories to just kidding around. One big happy family.

GA: How has it changed in the past 5 years?

Moonwolf: Hmm, getting bigger and bigger, more stories, introducing new topics, new changes, blogs and everything.

GA: Has GA affected you life in any way?

Moonwolf: Asking me that 2 weeks ago I would have said no. But now I met my boyfriend through GA, so big enough for you.

GA: That’s great! So, where do you see GA in the next 5 years?

Moonwolf: Hmm, just the same but bigger, and with the same funny, caring, serious people and with more stories... and we will have so much stuff we will need to get a real library if we put it all on paper.

GA: That’s right! The admins would have a tough time organizing a library, though.

GA: Moonwolf, it’s been a pleasure talking to you. Thank you for taking time out of your schedule and sharing your thoughts with us.
