Songs of the Mongoose Tribe - 2. Navigator - Demons Of The Crossroads

This song is dedicated to our friend, Silas Drake.
Verse 1:
Cold winter’s night, the sun was fallen
God knows it wasn’t easy
Must’ve been some fight, to bring him callin’
To the lonely road out of town.
His lady at his side, he took up the fight
They must’ve thought him crazy,
But he hitched a ride, out into the light
The navigator wouldn’t be kept down.

Chorus:
‘Cause there’s no rest for the wicked,
No home to call his own.
No there’s no rest for the wicked,
He’s out there all alone.
Been to a thousand places
Seen many friendly faces
But there’s no rest for the wicked,
Navigator’s never going home.

Verse 2:
There can be no doubt, the kid’s heart is pure,
You could see it in his eyes,
Something about his eyes made sure
He meant no harm to none.
Whatever it was, that drove him off,
A history of pain and lies,
We know ‘cause that kid was tough,
Navigator will always find the sun.

Chorus:
‘Cause there’s no rest for the wicked,
No home to call his own.
No there’s no rest for the wicked,
He’s out there all alone.
Been to a thousand places
Seen many friendly faces
But there’s no rest for the wicked,
Navigator’s never going home.

Bridge:
The Navigator’s always watching
But the signs are adding up.
He’ll find the sun,
He’ll find direction,
He’ll find his way
His way
His way
His way….

Back

Chorus:
‘Cause there’s no rest for the wicked,
No home to call his own.
No there’s no rest for the wicked,
He’s out there all alone.
Been to a thousand places
Seen many friendly faces
But the Navigator’s not wicked,
And the Navigator’s gonna find home.

Cynus, I liked this when you posted it in the Navigator related Forum and I like it now. But I do have a question─Why did it only show up on my left side panel of GA, instead of also showing up on the front page newest stories listing?

I, too would like to hear this one sung, and also the song from the first chapter of this series.

Hopefully, you will soon find someone interested in writing the music for these, and able to sing the songs as well.

I wish I knew the answer to your first question, as it's something I've wondered as well. It didn't show up there with the posting of the first song or the second, so I really don't know. Maybe because it's still below 1000 total words for the story?

One day, someone will write the music, I hope. I just need a musician in my life who will work with what I have. Honestly, I'd enjoy writing songs for the rest of my life as surely as I'd enjoy writing stories. :)
