Sorry for the delay in getting this chapter out. There's a section of Dan's notes that gets kind of sketchy and fragmentary, and it's made the writing somewhat challenging for a little while. From here on out subsequent chapters should come much more quickly, though.

This chapter and the remainder of these chapters are dedicated to Dan's man. Thanks for everything you're doing to help me with this.

    --Adam Phillips

  21. Chapter 21 0 reviews, 2,960 words,
The rest of Dan's story should get posted fairly quickly. There are about eight chapters to go. Thanks for continuing to read. Dan wanted this story to be told, and I dedicate the remainder of these chapters, and the telling of this story, to Dan's man. He loved you so much.

    --Adam Phillips

  22. Chapter 22 0 reviews, 6,357 words,
Here's the next chapter in Sam's saga. As usual, this dedication goes out to Dan's man. He loved you so much, and I've come to count you as a great e-friend. Thanks for your friendship.

  23. Chapter 23 0 reviews, 4,069 words,
Here's another chapter of Sam's story. The remaining chapters should come quicker now.

This chapter is once again dedicated to Dan's, aka Sam's, man. Thanks for being my e-friend, and thanks for talking with me about Sam and how much you loved him.

    --Adam Phillips

  24. Chapter 24 0 reviews, 7,720 words,
Here's the latest chapter of Sam's story. There are five more to go after this, I think.

Again, I want to dedicate this to Sam's man. Thanks for your support and friendship. My thoughts are with you a lot.

Here's the latest chapter of Sam's story. It should begin to address some questions that have been hanging around for a long time.

As usual, the dedication goes to Sam's man. And to him I want to say, this chapter would have been impossible without your help and input. I think you know that. Thanks for being my friend and for trusting me with this story.

  27. Chapter 27 0 reviews, 5,213 words,
Sam's readers: Sorry for the delay. My own schedule took me away from the story for a few months. Sam's notes were also not well-organized for this part of the story. As I sorted them all out, I discovered that the story is going to end up somewhat longer than I'd originally thought.
Thanks, readers, for hanging in. As usual, this chapter is dedicated to Sam's man. Thanks for everything you've done to get me past this stuck place.

    --Adam Phillips

  28. Chapter 28 0 reviews, 7,480 words,
I know I've given you varying reports on how long this story will be. As I get into this final stretch, I keep discovering areas of the story that need fuller treatment than I'd originally felt they would. It appears that this story will finish at 34 chapters. Stay tuned.

As usual, this chapter's dedication goes to Sam's man. You've become a good e-friend, and there's no way I could finish this thing without your help.

    --Adam Phillips

  29. Chapter 29 0 reviews, 4,396 words,
I have to mention Sam's guy once again. This story goes to you. Sam wrote it for you. Thanks for everything; I couldn't do this without you.

  30. Chapter 30 0 reviews, 13,733 words,
This is a long chapter. I'd considered splitting it into two, but ended up not doing so.

As always, I have to pay a word of tribute to Sam's man. Without his support for this project, I could never have taken it over from Sam.

    --Adam Phillips

  31. Chapter 31 0 reviews, 4,923 words,
Thanks again to Sam's man for looking this chapter over, and also to "Zach" for making sure I portrayed his vampire ass accurately. Having your input on all this means a hell of a lot to me.

I said I'd be finished by the end of 2009. Sorry for the delay. This next-to-last chapter challenged me more than I thought it would. Sam wrote the last chapter himself--and so I'll post the final chapter a few days after this one.

Thanks to Sam's man for standing by me as I tried to keep my promise to Sam and finish this for him. You're a great guy and I'm glad to know you. I couldn't have finished this without you.

    --Adam Phillips

  34. Chapter 34 2 reviews, 2,429 words,
This is the final chapter of It Started With Brian. I wrote the first 8 paragraphs to transition between chapters. The rest was written by Sam immediately after the therapy session-and aftermath-he describes. This final dedication is to my departed and much-loved friend-rest in peace, buddy-and to his "Brian," whom he loved with all his heart and soul. Thanks for helping me keep my promise to your man. And for your ongoing friendship.
