Timmy's Journal - 2. Time Joy Letting Go

Three new poems: Time, Joy, Letting Go

Time

Time is the hunter of man
Ceaseless in its pursuit
We play catch-me-if-you-can
Not seeing the nooses we wear

Joy

Light through dancing leaves
Footprints on white sands
The beat of a hummingbird's wings
My soul singing with thoughts of you
These bring joy through my veil of tears

Letting Go

How do you forget a life?
A snapshot in time
Move on from a past
Best forgotten?

It is a wee-small step
Grasp of a stranger’s hand
A new love's embrace
Your colleague’s acceptance

Out of a fire
Into the world
Where hope is eternal
And life is worth living

This is a beautiful sequence of poems…they seem to build on one another. Love the image of a hummingbird's motion and the grasping of a hand. Lovely.

But the last of these three seems to say the most about connection, and how wonderful it is to feel it.

Thanks for posting these. You share of yourself in an open and wonderful way, which always amazes me.

These were very uplifting Tim. There is sadness, but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel and find joy in difficult times. They all seem to be about hope.

Hi LitLover. Yeah hope I guess is the right word. For me it's a struggle to find meaning. I find it hard to let go of my past but I have to. But to just forget it, to me there has to be a reason, something I can learn, it can't have been all for nothing. The first one, Time ... means we don't know how much we have ... don't waste it.

Thanks for your review and great comments.

Hey Tim:
You've done it once again. Beautiful words overflowing with meaning.
I can feel the angst in the beginning but it leads through to happiness and contentedness in by the end I think.
It's a journey that has a deservedly good end.

Terrific poems, Tim!

The second one is definitely light and uplifting, whereas the first one is a bit deceptive, and the last one is both happy and sad.

They all leave you thinking though, which is why I love the way you write. :)

Hi 1810, thank you for review. The first is a reminder life is fleeting, we dont know how long we have in this world. The second, see the joy in simple things and the third, care about your fellow man, it doesnt take much. Reach out to that lady struggling off the bus, offer your hand.. that's all.

I struggle with the lack of kindness in our world.

Thanks for your thoughts and for reading my words.

I love the progression in this trio. Joy really got to me; the heart dances at it. Letting go sets off all my interior music. Awesome addition to your growing body of work.

Thank you again Lisa. There is another poem about Michael in Musings...#6. It's my favourite one for him.

Thank you for the compliment, that these make you think. I couldn't ask for more.

Thank you Parker. I appreciate you reading and your comments. You know enough about me to understand them I think. But I do struggle with living in this world sometimes but I do see the good in it as well.

Thank you for your support.

There are messages in these. You have learned a lot about life. I see Michael in the third poem, taking your hand and coaxing you to take the good things that life and love have to offer. With his help, you saw the wisdom in 'letting go', and began your journey of a different sort. These are the words of someone who is going to get all the way there. You have hope, and I have faith. Thanks for sharing these, my friend... cheers... Gary...

Thank you Gary. Without Michael, I don't think I'd be here today. I'm not sure how I mean that. He doesn't think so, Mike thinks I'd have found my way without him. Maybe. I don't know. I'm just glad he's in my life. I'm glad you all are as well.

Thanks for your support and your faith Gary. I appreciate more than I can say.

Great poems Tim. Especially loved Joy..
The trio moved me through time, on a journey threaded with hope. At the end, trusting what is there, finding, it was okay to let go.
Thanks for sharing, I like seeing this side of you...

Hi Def! Thank you. I sort of feel better not writing the other more negative poems down. They are there, but I'm learning to ignore them. These aren't as forthcoming but they are there. Thanks for your support and for your comments.

Erm... it'll probably be strange with what I have to say :*)

Time- Despite how dark it is, I am reminded of childhood when I read "Catch me if you can" It's playful, plus there is the fact that children don't really think about death, that they do not realize they wear "nooses"

Joy- I see this as the teenage years. A time to have fun, and enjoy life.

Letting Go- As for this one, I see adulthood. Taking those tentative first steps into a new world. To, as you said, "move on from the past" and embark on the journey that is life.

Sorry if I'm reading way to much into this trilogy :blushing: Tim, these are fantastic poems

Drew.. I said the other day in a review to AC Benus.. poems are like paintings. The artist has his own idea of what it means, the viewer will have his own. Same here, I know what I felt when I wrote them, you may see something else. That's the beauty of art.

There is no right or wrong. Thanks you for your thoughtful comments..Drew. As always, I appreciate your time and your effort in reviewing my words.

I had to reread these beautiful poems after I read your comment.  You helped me see them in a different light.  Thanks!
