Weekly Wrap Up (Nov. 5 - Nov. 11)

Hey! Last week we changed the clocks in a lot of places, who changed the days this week?   Up here in Western Canada, yesterday was Remembrance Day were we remember all the veterans and peacekeepers that all served in our forces and some that died doing so. It is actually a holiday I believe in all Commonwealth countries, but others do a bigger ceremony on other holidays. When I say Western Canada, I know we have it as a stat holiday. This means this weekend has me mixed up. We are taking M

Subtext In Dialogue

Subtext In Dialogue It’s something that we all do, and often on a daily basis. We LIE! Hehehe! It’s true! It might be quick and automatic and usually pretty much harmless for the most part...but we all do it. People ask us how we’re doing, and we say, “I’m fine” or “I’m ok”...when nothing could be further from the truth. We go to jobs that we hate and stay in relationships that don’t make us happy and pretend that life is as good as it gets. We interact with people that we, literally, can’t

It's That Time Of The Year

Yep, it's that time of the year. What time? I hear you ask. It is the time when we are either thinking about or trying not to think about Christmas. It's also the time when many charitable organisations get the begging bowl out. I've already had my begging bowl out, been around the usual local companies and a few more. I've been lucky and received donations and promises of help from all that I have approached, and I am grateful for everything that has been received and promised. Now I've got the

Of Pride and Power Chapter 10 is live

Chapter 10 There's a lot of divergence now happening in my story from actual history. For one thing, the Prayer book rebellions of 1549 never happened in Devonshire, so Eli has taken all the rebels in and trained them to be part of his army. Additionally, due to the quick death of Edward Seymore, the famous Kett rebellion in Norfolk never happened, which is the battle that helped elevate Earl of Warwick, John Dudley, to fame with victory to Duke of Northumberland. However coincidentally, Ro

Oops! Prompts

I may or may not have remembered that the prompt blog is resuming this week...   So let's embrace the oops in our lives and see what writing treasures come from them.  A special thanks to my BFF's daughter for supplying #179, although thankfully this did not happen on our trip last weekend.    And another thank you to our own LBO for inspiring #180.   PT Prompt #179 You're on a trip with two of your friends and arrive at the hotel late at night.  You're exhausted and the only thing you

Author Guess Who #17

Taking a quick poll here. Who here almost forgot Author Guess Who existed? I didn't, and I've been busy collecting interviews over the past few weeks. For those that forgot what this is or are new to the GA community, this is a little interview game. I have a little list of questions for a mystery author/community member, and using their responses, your job is to figure out who it is! You're given two weeks to put your guesses in before the reveal is posted. Don't be afraid to point fingers or d

Ask An Author 3.0 #34

I bet I had y'all fooled. "Oh, no! Where did Ask An Author go? Did it fall off a cliff, possibly dangling off a railroad track like a cheesy action flick?" Well, the answer is no. The explanation is incredibly simple. Blame the antholo— I MEAN I was asked so kindly and sincerely to push this back a week. By the way, did everyone enjoy this year's anthology? Personally, I had a blast. Such great submissions to check out, so if you haven't yet, get goin'!  Anyway, y'all have waited long enoug

I wanted to feature a story by kbois this month, and while this story is on the longer side for a CSR pick, I liked that it aligned with that oft-featured holiday month issue... unexpected family dynamics and all the bumps that indicates! So, please enjoy this month's story by @kbois and come back at the end of the month ready to share your thoughts!
