Health Update

I've been having 'female issues' since the beginning of the year and recently underwent some updated testing. About three months ago, I had an ultrasound that showed a small, septated cyst on my left ovary. I also had a cervical polyp that was removed during the examination. Septated means segmented, and as far as cysts go, that is generally not good. The plan of action was to wait 2-3 months and have a repeat ultrasound. Well, the repeat ultrasound showed that it had doubled in size, so I was told that the ovary will need to be removed. The good news is that my bloodwork came back normal, so it may not be cancerous. I have another appointment tomorrow with the doctor, since they screwed up this appointment and made it with the nurse practitioner. I will have more information then as to how I need to proceed. Needless to say, this is very upsetting to me, but now that the initial shock has worn off I am feeling more optimistic. I've talked to a couple of friends who have had the surgery and they both made it through with no complications. Fingers crossed I will do the same.

Edited for update:

I'm feeling a lot better after my appointment this afternoon. The doctor isn't overly concerned with the cyst. Even though it's septated, all my other tests came back normal so there's a very high likelihood it's benign. I will undergo further testing in a couple of weeks, then we will schedule the surgery. I want to thank everyone for your thoughts and well wishes. GA is such an amazing place and it's all because of you all.:kiss:

Don't worry Val, it will all be fine. I have seen so many surgeries, while I was at hospital for my uncle, they all came out fine even though they are major ones. So be strong. Doctors know what they are doing and don't force them to do anything unless they think its vital. JUST BE STRONG. You will get through it fine... :)

It is human nature to worry, a survival instinct. The power of positive thinking can not be overstated. You have to believe in yourself, the proper mind set is vital. The glass is always half full, not half empty.

The outcome will be good. You should be feeling the positives vibes and best wishes coming from all of your friends here.

Mmm went thru a simlar thing some years back.. but with male bits... testicular cancer scare.. still had to have surgery to check things out.. it is scary. But after a bit you realize you just have to deal with it.

I hope everything will be okay, Val. Hang in there and be as positive as you can. You can do this!!  And talking about it helps. Sandrewn is right.. see yourself afterward, getting better. See yourself be fine, because you will be.

You have all my love and a million hugs xoxoxoxxo

Seems to me like you have the right attitude, Val. Letting practicality win the day is probably the best option any of us can take.

*hugs* Female issues are scary. Mostly because older generations didn't talk about them so we have no idea, and when they did it's wrong. Unfortunately it's a lot of wait and see, but I've come to realize that waiting is better than the alternative of surgery now.

I hope it works well for you.
