Online Book Club

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

As an aspiring writer and poet, I have started exposing myself to gay literary works for inspirations.

I am wondering if anyone else is interested in having an online book club to select books to read and have a discussion afterwards on a fortnightly to monthly basis.

Please reply if interested.

Cheers!

As an fyi, we do have a monthly Can't Stop Reading (CSR) event in the site blog that features one story posted on the site by a GA author. I announce the story the first Monday of the month (you can see today's featured announcement post on the main forum page) and readers get the rest of the month until the last Monday to read the story(ies). On the last Monday I feature an interview with the author(s) and then readers can post their story thoughts and questions, general questions for the author, etc...

It's perfectly fine for members want to discuss published or non-GA LGBT works to do so in topics posted on the forums, but we do have rules against asking for personal contact information from members, especially since we have minors who are allowed on the site. Contact information can be especially sensitive since not everyone can be free in their private as well as public lives and need to keep them separate from their site membership.

Count me in. Much of our culture must be passed hand to hand, and there are works that we all should read to get a grounding. Maurice comes to mind first, but there are also many short stories to delve into, and many of those are posted online. Cheers for the idea, oboi83.

Hi all

Thanks for your replies. I was recommended to read this book which I just received a copy in the mail today called "call me by your name" by Andre Aciman. Would you like to read and discuss this book for the month of February? I'm open to suggestions. Cheers!

I think we need to have a list of books /stories that can be found easily online. We also have to consider cost, because not everyone will be willing or are able to buy books all of the time.

The book you name sounds very interesting. I'll hunt around and see if i can find it ...
