glennish
I know the story is based of Greek mythology, but are there any stories in Egyptian mythology about traveling to the underworld and returning with a loved one? Link to comment

What an excellent question! I imagine so, since it's a common theme. I do know that after Osiris is killed by Set that Isis finds a means of resurrecting him at some point, at least in one version of the mythology. I'll do some research and see what I can find out. Cynus
Okay, so I haven't been able to uncover all of it yet, but there is some mention of a magician named Meryre who journeyed into the Duat(Egyptian Underworld) on behalf of Pharaoh Sisobek in the 6th century B.C.E.. I'm having trouble finding a full recounting of the story, but there is a book which includes it but I can only see the beginning of the tale: https://books.google.com/books?id=mAU7CwAAQBAJ&pg=PT201&lpg=PT201&dq=magician+meryre+myth&source=bl&ots=v80vanAdIx&sig=bbtWlbMIatBPVu895nennWUjdHc&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj_u7__qLXWAhXrs1QKHYM3DLwQ6AEIKDAA#v=onepage&q=magician meryre myth&f=false Although the Duat is really interesting all on its own http://iml.jou.ufl.edu/projects/fall04/hilton/underworld.htm Edited September 21, 2017 by Cynus Link to comment
glennish
The reason I ask is because I think the Egyptians used "magic and spells" more than the Greeks. 1 Link to comment

The Western form of spell-creation is derived from, Egyptian, Roman, and Nordic methods for the most part, but since the Egyptians came first... 1 Link to comment

Cynus
Chapter 2 of Part 2 just posted last night, and it seems everyone has a lot of questions. Obviously I can't answer the spoiler ones, but if you have any questions about why I chose to write things a certain way, or concerns about things that have already happened, feel free to discuss them here. 1 Link to comment
