I got to spend time in Ottawa at Christmastime 2013.  This was in the ByWard Market area.

Beaver Tail is a fried bread treat its rolled into a shape resembling a beaver tail. Covered in cinnamon sugar or chocolate or other yummy toppings

Yeah..Lovely winter brrrr.  Can't abide beaver tails, real or pastry versions. I've tried both. Knew a guy who was a street kid. He was Chippewa. We hitched up to Rama to see his family once. They cooked some for us.

I quite enjoyed this pastry version.  Don't think I'd enjoy the animal one.

I did have a great time that weekend!

We're hoping to get away to Ottawa maybe in September. We've decided to use Air BnB and get somewhere downtown, not far from the great military museums Michael really wants to see.

I am envious and embarrassed at the same time. You're from Texas and have enjoyed a beaver tail in Ottawa. I live just up the road from there and have never tasted a beaver tail. Then again, I am from Quebec and will continue to enjoy poutines and one day I will get to try a beavers tail(the pastry).

sandrewn

(you looked like you were having a good time and enjoying yourself)
