Andrew and Jamie - 14. Epilogue
The months passed with little activity, the only event of note was that Adam found his mate – a shy nurse called Ben, who worked at the clinic. Once the little nurse’s abusive ex had been dealt with life returned to what passed for normal in Chapmistres view.

It was early in in the afternoon when Jamie woke to pains ripping through his stomach. A particularly painful spasm made him jerk and he found himself falling off the edge of the bed. Just as he was about to hit the floor he felt arms catch him. He just had time to hear his mate start cursing before another shot of pain caused him to pass out.

“Shit, Fuck,” Andrew swore to himself as he gently got his mate back on to the bed.
“Casey, I need you in our room NOW.” He sent frantically to his brother-in-law.
There was a small pop and Casey appeared in the center of the room.
“What’s happened?” he demanded as he ran his hands over his twin.
“I don’t know. I woke in time to catch him as he fell out of bed,” Andrew replied.
Casey muttered a few spells and then closed his eyes and went silent. Andrew was just starting to really panic when Casey opened his eyes.
“He’s in labor but the baby can’t get out. The baby of course doesn’t realize this and is trying to push its way out. I need to get him downstairs to do the cesarean we discussed, I can’t do it alone and I need to get some help.”
As he spoke Casey was rearranging Jamie on the bed and when he finished he laid a hand on Jamie and grabbed Andrew’s hand. In the blink of an eye they all reappeared in a small room in the clinic. Jamie was in a bed and Casey and Andrew were standing by him.
Casey ran to the door, “Send Doris and Mabel to me here and be quick about it,” he called into the hallway. Someone answered and he came back into the room.
A few moments later two elderly witches came in dressed in the clinic uniform or t-shirt and pants.
“Is it time finally?” one asked excitedly.
“Yes,” Casey answered laying a hand back on Jamie, “Now we do it exactly as we discussed, I will keep Jamie under while you two work. Just be quick, his magic is already fighting mine and I don’t know how long I can keep him under.”
Doris and Mabel nodded and went to work.
Andrew moved to the side and watched, he had been told briefly what would happen at the birth but he still wasn’t prepared for the reality of how useless he felt. He mate was in pain and being forced to stay asleep and he couldn’t do anything to help.
He knew that one witch would be using magic to open an incision across Jamie’s abdomen, while the other healed any bleeding as they went. After the baby was removed one would heal the incision while the other cleaned and wrapped the baby. Nothing he could do to help with any of that, he didn’t have any magic.
“Andrew, I need your help.” Casey’s voice brought him out of his depressing thoughts.
“I need you to use your mind link with Jamie to keep him calm. He may not be awake but his mind is working and is trying to fight me. His instinct is to fight the pain and to do that he needs to be conscious but we need him calm and asleep. You’re his mate, his mind should respond to you. Between us we should be able to control him.”
Andrew nodded and linked his mind with Casey’s and then with Jamie’s.
Andrew could feel the confusion in his mates mind, he tried to send a calming feeling to Jamie.
“Come on love. Let the nurses do their jobs and get our baby out. You know how you’ve been saying you want this over with! You’re nearly there. The end’s in sight. Just hang in there.” Andrew kept sending all the thoughts he could think of and slowly he and Casey felt Jamie’s mind calming and Casey was able to keep him asleep, while the nurses worked.
“All done.” Came one of the nurse’s voices.
Casey and Andrew jumped as they had been concentrating so much on Jamie they hadn’t noticed what the nurses were doing.
Andrew nearly jumped again when he registered the cry of a baby echoing though the room. He helped Casey gently wake Jamie up and as soon as he could he turned to get his first look at his child.
“Congratulations, you have a lovely baby girl.” One of the nurses said and held the wrapped baby out to Andrew.
“I might drop her.” Andrew protested as the nurse pressed the baby into his arms. His hands shook as they were repositioned to ensure he supported her head and held her securely.
“There, see you’re fine,” the nurse laughed and both of them headed for the door. “We’ll let everyone know and give you some time before the hordes of well-wishers descend.”
Andrew looked at Jamie and saw his mate was watching him with tears in his eyes.
“I could hear you and Casey but all I could think was I needed to wake up and see what was happening.” Jamie said smiling tiredly.
“Well, we’ll be better prepared for next time,” Casey said and then laughed at the looks on the couple’s faces.
“I am not doing that again!” Jamie stated.
Andrew was shaking his head too, “No, no way. Five months of his hormones going haywire were by far enough.” Jamie aimed a swat at Andrew but Andrew ducked laughing. “Here, hold your daughter.” He said passing the baby to Jamie.
Jamie looked down on the baby girl and then looked back at Andrew, there were tears in his eyes.
“What should we call her?” Jamie asked.
“What about Elizabeth?” Andrew suggested, knowing it was Jamie and Casey’s mother’s name.
Both Jamie and Casey shouted yes at the same time and they all ended up laughing and crying.
Andrew then sat on the edge of the bed and wrapped an arm round his mate and his daughter.

Casey looked at his brother and his mate, both looking with awe at their daughter.
They made the perfect family picture and Casey knew it was an image he would remember for the rest of his life.
