Drew's Prompts - 4. A Pot's Diary

This is a short diary entry of a Pot owned by a terrible cook, and it is a part of this month's Newsletter Game. I hope you like it!

Dear Kettle,

Having an excellent cook for an owner is freaking awesome! Being Mrs. Anderson’s pot for some twenty years, I’ve played a part in making truly amazing meals- everything from a regular lunch to the Annual Christmas Dinner. Quite frankly, I’ve been spoiled.

But, all good things must come to an end, I suppose. One minute, I’m Mrs. Anderson’s pot; the next, I’m a wedding gift for her granddaughter. Granted, this doesn’t sound bad at all- I mean, at least she’s her granddaughter, so I’ll be able to see her occasionally. But, that small comfort dissipated when I came face to face with Karen, her newlywed granddaughter.

See, I can tell who’s a good cook and who isn’t, it’s an instinct I’ve had since I was first crafted. I remember the first time I saw Mrs. Anderson enter the store. I just knew that she’d be a great in the kitchen, and I was ecstatic when she bought me.

However, I didn’t get the same feeling when I saw Karen. And these last few weeks have proved me right. She’s prone to misreading recipes- adding too much of this or too little of that, or even adding the wrong ingredient! And to top it off, last week, she forgot to take me out of the oven in time.

As for her husband, he’s no better. The only thing he knows how to make is scrambled eggs- barely! I’m going to feel so sorry for their kids.

Anyways, I have to sign off now, Karen will be home soon. Tonight’s dinner will be spaghetti, wish me luck!

I love the concept, Drew! Pot writing kettle... awesome :) . This was excellently written, giving personality to a pot, with few words. Color me impressed, my friend. I hope it's okay to tell you your skills show improvement with every new thing I read of yours :worship:   Cheers... Gary....

Aww...the poor Pot! I can see him frowning at burnt residues and slimy sauce...ew. Like it, Drew!

I think Pot would want to take a shower after each time Karen uses him. Thanks aditus!

I just hope he gets a thorough cleaning between uses. This was fun Drew and brought a smile. Thanks.

I think a thorough cleaning is the highlight of Pot's day, lol. Thanks Dugh!

Poor Pot.  Too bad he can't teach Karen how to cook. ;) Nice job. :)

I don't think Pot would want to teach Karen how to cook, because if he does, she may become an even better cook than Mrs. Anderson! :o:P Thanks Val!

How could Mrs. Anderson give her trusty pot to someone who doesn't know how to cook. Disgraceful ! But I'm wondering if he's revenging himself by burning the food.

LOL, well Karen is her granddaughter, and I think she figures that maybe Karen will improve with time and patience. Although, for Pot, his patience is running thin! :gikkle:

Thanks Tim!

Well done, Drew.

I guess my adorkable self rubbed onto this story. Wait, after reading @JayT's entry, maybe using "rub" isn't the best choice. :gikkle:

Thanks Reader!

What a sad fate for a pot! But maybe Pot can teach her to cook eventually? Practice makes perfect.
