Buy One, Get Two and Three... - 65. Chapter 65

Daniel

“I’ll have to find a way to thank Carlos for organizing this.” Daniel passed another hot chocolate to Toby to set on the tray.

“I think it was Tara’s idea actually. All Carlos did was call her ‘cause he was worried about you. She was the one to remind him you had more than one brother.”

Daniel winced and felt guilt rise. He’d been so busy missing Silas he’d barely spared a thought for Toby. It had been just him and Silas for so long he was still getting used to having two brothers again.

Impulsively he pulled Toby into a tight hug.

“I’m glad to have both my brothers back with me. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Toby squeezed him tight, then pulled back to look him in the eye. “Then maybe you can tell this brother what is really bothering you?”

Daniel tried to drop his gaze, but Toby's stubborn one held his. Finally, he nodded. “Okay, tell Tara you’re staying here tonight, and we can talk in my room when Carlos goes to bed.”

Toby raised an eyebrow but nodded, and they headed for the main room.

Everyone had an enjoyable evening. Toby watched as Daniel giggled like a child at the antics of the ogre and donkey on the big screen. Daniel didn’t laugh enough, even as a child he’d been the serious one of them all. He was the voice of reason when he and Silas had wanted to pull some prank or other on some unsuspecting victim. He was also the one everyone went to for advice and help when they were in trouble. But, who did Daniel go to? Toby had never noticed before, but now he realized that Daniel never came to him or Silas for help. Who listened to the listener?

The night finally wound down, and Tara said her goodbyes. Carlos had frowned when Toby insisted he was staying to keep Daniel company, but had raised no objections.

A brief good night where Carlos dropped a kiss on the top of Daniel’s head, and the two brothers were left alone.

Before long they were both tucked comfortably under the covers of Daniel's bed, and Toby made Daniel face him. “Talk!”

“Where do you want me to start?”

“You could start by telling why you’re still in this room. I can see all Silas’ things have been moved, so why haven’t yours? I thought you and Carlos had moved on in your relationship now. At least that’s what Silas implied last I spoke to him.”

Daniel hid his face, and Toby grinned at the blush he could see.

“Come on, Bro, you know there are no secrets with us three. Silas only let me know because he was so excited for you. We both thought you’d be too busy with your new master to worry about Silas being away on honeymoon. So, I ask again why are you and all your things still in this room? Why aren’t you all cuddled up with your master? And also, what was that half-hearted kiss he gave you before going to bed? That was hardly the kiss of a lover.”

“Those are the million dollar questions,” Daniel sighed.

Daniel seems to be almost fighting for a great relationship with Carlos even though it appears to be there already except Daniel doesn't see it or something. Daniel, I think has a lot of demons that he's battling right now, and with Silas away on his honeymoon Daniel still isn't moving forward with the relationship between him and Carlos. I know that they both want it, but for some reason Daniel isn't making the effort to make it work. I wonder if there's something in his past that Daniel's hiding from everyone. You can only tell that Carlos loves Daniel, and Daniel loves him back, he just won't move forward. I hope that they can find a way to make it work for them.

Carlos knows how vulnerable Daniel is...He knows that Daniel wouldn't be one to speak up if he wasn't enjoying something....I don't think Daniel would ever use his safe word even....Carlos doesn't want to push Daniel into something unless Daniel wants it. Daniel would the type of person who is easily convinced that they are where they want to be by their own choices even though they were totally manipulated and pushed in that direction. Carlos is letting Daniel determine the extent of their relationship but Daniel is reading it as disinterest.

I think Daniel is waiting for Carlos to make the first move here. Danieli s used to following another person's lead. He isn't used to making his feeling known without prompting.

This is where the word communication comes into play. Unfortunately, they are both making decisions without taking it through. I'm sure they will learn their lesson...even if their friends have to bang them over the head with the obvious answer.
