Cider Press - 10. Slow Dance

There is music everywhere, it seems.

Slow Dance

I dance the rhythm of the night,
the whispered stream, the owl in flight,
the subtle ticking of the clock
in synchrony with noises slight.

On doorframe do I softly knock,
by silvered moonlight taking stock,
and watch your shoulders rise and fall,
your breathing steady as a rock.

The dripping sink from down the hall
does nothing much to still the call
I'm hearing from your flanks and spine
while naked 'neath the quilts you sprawl.

Though hidden, yet your form divine
is classic jazz in its design,
such variations you incite
as in the pulse I make you mine.

if you have a thought, comment or idea to leave in review, I would be glad of it.

Love it, Parker! ... 'class jazz' and 'variations you incite'... sublime :) ... oh, and ... 'the dripping sink from down the hall' ... put me right there, in that doorway... cheers... Gary....

Thank you, Gary. If this poem set and painted a scene for you, then I feel glad. And classic jazz was kind of fun to use as a metaphor...

This is lovely, Parker.  You paint quite the vivid scene.  I love it all, from the rhythm of the night to the classic jazz.  It synchronizes in perfect harmony.  :worship:  Minor editing note:  I think you have an extra "to" in the second line of the third stanza. ;)

Thank you Val - glad you liked this and caught the sounds of the night in its music. And the edit is now done...you are very kind...

I love the sweet sultry sounds of classic jazz, heady rhythms in the night.

The night has its music, and we can enjoy the rhythm and the melody. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

A beautiful scene you paint and sounds that are everyday that sing to us if we only take the time to listen.  Lovely, Parker.

Sometimes the night is full of notes. I love the idea that these sounds sing to us - that’s very comforting. Thank you, tim for reading this one, and responding to it.

This is just about as good as poetry can get...

I dance the rhythm of the night,
the whispered stream, the owl in flight

It's a very evocative poem, my friend. The act of watching the beloved in the secret of these night noises has its own erotic sensibility. Perhaps it has its own way of raising goose bumps as well.

Well done

Your kind words made me smile. That this could conjure images and sounds for you is surely testament to the delight in sharing poetry. The silent watching and listening is both erotic and loving, I hope. Thank you; I am so very glad you liked this.
