J.A.M. - 10. Chapter 10

J.A.M.

Entry 31

It's finally Friday. The weekend. I made it through the first week of hell! And thankfully, no homework for the weekend. This weekend me, Phillip, and Benji are having a sleepover. I’m kind of nervous, it’s the first time I’ve been away from Pop and Dad in the two weeks I’ve been here. We were planning on having a movie marathon. Everyone wanted something different, I wanted Marvel marathon, Benji wanted Batman (which scored a point in my book!), and Phillip wanted to watch Nightmare on Elm Street. We settled for Krueger. I personally never watched any horror movies before but I think if Phillip is there I’ll do just fine. I hope. Maybe. Uncle David and Aunt Maureen were planning on ordering a couple of pizzas for us. I hope it’s going to be as fun as I think it’s going to be. Dad had a hard time agreeing to it because he didn’t want to be separated from me yet either. He finally agreed after Pop told him they’d have the house to themselves if I went to the sleepover. Now, for some reason Dad couldn’t help but pack a bag for me then. Well I probably won’t write until I get back from the sleepover.

Entry 32

This was the best weekend of my life! Me, Phillip, and Benji had a blast. The movies weren’t as bad as I thought they’d be. No nightmares at all. We had fun laughing at the ridiculous deaths from the movies. My favorite had to be the blood geyser from the first movie. Halfway through the third movie we started chowing down on the pepperoni pizza that was ordered. We watched the first four movies before going to bed leaving the remaining films for the second night. We slept in sleeping bags on the floor in Phillip’s room. The next morning when we woke up, Aunt Maureen had fixed us some Belgian waffles with maple bacon and some link sausage. We hadn’t really planned our activities for the day so Uncle David suggested we go to the local water park. We all agreed that it was a great idea. The slides were epic. I got such a rush speeding through the tube with the water rushing beside me and under me. It was fun just being a kid for once. I never really got the chance to do that after mama and daddy died. It felt like I had reclaimed my childhood and all my cares drifted away. When we got done at the water park we decided to go back to Phillip’s and watched the rest of our movies. With two of them out of the way we loaded up and went back to DQ’s Diner. I had asked the waiter what DQ stood for he said Drought Quake. Which confused me even more, so I let it drop. We had a burger with onion rings. I had to slap Benji’s hands away from my plate as he tried to steal my onion rings multiple times.

When I woke up this morning I had something hard poking me in my back, it turned out to be Phillip’s morning wood. I had to giggle as I looked at Benji, as he was pitching a decent sized tent as well. I got out of the sleeping bag and made my way downstairs just in time to help Aunt Maureen make breakfast. I helped her make the hash browns and squeeze some orange juice. By the time we got finished the other guys were waking up and making their way downstairs with us. When we got eating we played some basketball before I got dropped off at home. When I walked in the door Dad and Pop were sitting on the couch cuddled up. If I had a camera I would’ve snapped a picture of them together. They asked me how my weekend was and I told them all about it. About three, Pop left us and went to the kitchen to start dinner. He was making fried chicken with mashed potatoes and black-eyed peas. With some of the pan drippings he made some gravy for the potatoes. They were amazing. It was funny watching him cook. The whole time he was working on the peas he was singing I Got a Feeling. I didn’t think he even was aware of that song. After getting filled up on the food I took a shower. Tomorrow my second week of school starts. Plus, my blood tests come back tomorrow. I hope everything is fine.

Great chapter, pleased JAM had a good weekend with his friends. Love how Dad was quick to give him his bag after whispering in his ear.

Looking forward to him getting his blood results back and hearing how Wesley is.

Well it is very handy when you supply them! But you’ve rounded off the tines and put protective rubber caps on them! I’ll have to bring my own next time!  ;-)

the test could be a false positive test. i could just be a chronic, low level infection. as you've described him so far, he doesn't have any symptoms.

B).................DQ's was okay, the hamburgers were good, but the onion rings were greasy and way too few for an order!  Sounds like a normal teen sleep over with no drama. The test seems the contention and not school or whose in what relationship, typical teen angst.

In my era, DQ stood for Dairy Queen, but then my era was 75-80 years ago!!!

The first results of a Leukemia test are frequently false positives -- so we can continue to hope here as well.

Congratulations on your style of writing; A1 in my book, Keep up the good work.

Well I like using names of my loyal readers and friends as characters and places. Good news the character Will Robins is named for you! See the character was waiting for his inspiration!
