The Barnstable Chronicles: Vic Greenley Comes Home - 1. On Your Marks, Get Set, Go!

And here we are! Book Three of the series!
We start with Vic in his Senior year of high school and the state swimming championships. Things are really going well for Vic and he's on top of the world. Don't worry... he doesn't stumble for a few chapters (hehe).
I'm trying a different approach to this book, going to go for third-person with a journal entry at the end of each chapter.
Enjoy!
-Geoff

It was the state swimming championships, and the atmosphere in the Boston College Swim Center was electric. Vic Greenley didn't really hear the cheers as he and seven other swimmers entered the pool area and stood behind their starting blocks. He was in his warm-up suit and had his earbuds in (as did all the other swimmers) listening to his favorite Broadway musical, Newsies. “King of New York” always got him pumped up and ready to go right before a race. He smiled to himself, knowing that the other guys would be listening to Coldplay or JayZee. He did hear the loudspeakers announce his race and joined the others as they removed their earbuds and warm-up suits and placing everything in the bin to the side of the starting block.

“And now ladies and gentlemen, the 2012 Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association State Swimming Championship 400-meter individual medley. In lane one, Derek Hampton from Brookline High School in Brookline. In lane two, Jaime Gonzales from Wakefield Memorial High School in Wakefield. In lane three, Jaxon Hobbs from Northampton High School in Northampton. In lane four, the new U.S. national high school record-holder, Victor Greenely, from Barnstable High School in Barnstable. In lane five—" Vic didn't hear the rest of the announcement. He knew the guys he was swimming against.

After he was announced, Vic stood up on his starting block, turned toward the crowd, and waved with both hands in the air. He quickly glanced at the third row in the center of the stands and saw his family standing and cheering. As he did before every race, his eyes locked with his boyfriend’s. Vic smiled at Gavin and gave him a thumbs-up.

Vic turned away and began his final preparations for the race. He started swinging his arms in broad circles to get the blood flowing. Standing next to Vic in lane five is Evan Franklin from neighboring Dennis-Yarmouth High School.

Evan has always been Vic’s closest competition, with Vic winning about 60% of their races. Whenever they were in a race together, everyone pretty much knew one of them would take first place. While fierce competitors, outside the pool, they were great friends.

As the announcer was finishing with the introductions, Vic began to plot out his strategy. He knew he was the strongest in the butterfly and weakest in the backstroke. Vic also knew that he could hold his own in the backstroke if he were at least a length ahead after the butterfly. He knew he was stronger than Evan in the breaststroke and could more than handle himself in the freestyle. As he was strategizing, he placed his goggles over his eyes.

“On your marks, get set—BANG!” Vic had a perfect launch and was soon racing down his lane. Halfway through his first leg, Vic knew he was doing well as he could see no other swimmers—not even their hands as he butterflied his way to the wall. As Vic turned around to begin the butterfly's second leg, he saw Evan approaching the wall in the next lane. He figured he was a good two seconds ahead of him, and he poured it on for the second half of the first stroke.

As he touched the wall and did his signature front-flip, he could hear the screaming crowd as his head briefly went above the waterline. He knew he was doing well. He felt like he was on fire. What Vic didn't see was that he was 1.2 seconds ahead of his record pace he set earlier in the day during qualifying.

Vic was a quarter of the way down his lane when he caught a glimpse of Evan beginning his backstroke. He heard “King of New York” in his mind as he pushed himself harder than he ever had in his most challenging leg of the medley.

Vic touched the wall and turned for the second half of the second leg, and he realized he was at least three lengths ahead of Evan. He figured his friend must have had some trouble in the first leg.

He touched the wall and flipped into the breaststroke, passing everyone as they finished their backstroke lap. The crowd's noise as he cleared the water on each stroke only motivated him to push himself even harder. He knew he would probably break his own record now, and that idea drove him even more. Before he knew it, he had completed the medley's third leg and was into the final leg, the freestyle. He was nearly two lengths ahead of Evan, and that was the final motivation he needed to give his all.

Vic made his final turn and, from out of nowhere, found a burst of strength to push himself even harder to the finish. As he saw the wall in front of him, he gave one last push and turned around. Evan was a good four seconds behind him. He looked up at the scoreboard and saw USHSR by his name. “Holy shit!” he thought to himself, “4:09:37!”

Vic had set yet another high school US record, and just as it began to sink in, he saw Evan finishing his race and coming in second place. Once Evan finished, he dipped under the lane divider and stood up next to Vic, wrapping his arms around him. “You know you're going to Rio, dude! That was fucking awesome!”

“Dude, I don't know where that came from!”

“I do! Gavin must have fucked you twice last night. You always do better after he loves you hard!”

Vic blushed as he whispered into Evan's ear, “And again this morning!”

The boys continued hugging each other as the crowd went completely wild. They were standing and cheering at the top of their lungs. Evan broke away from Vic and pointed to the people in the stands. “Dude, that's for you! You're totally the shit, man!”

The boys got out of the pool, and Vic was immediately surrounded by the other swimmers, all of them giving him congratulatory hugs. “I'll be right back, guys!”

He broke away from the crowd and ran past the reporters heading his way. He went up to the stands and stood at the railing as his parents, cousin and boyfriend ran down to him. There were hugs and high-fives from all. The last to reach him was Gavin. He hugged Vic and said, “I love you, champion!”

Gavin finally let go of him, and Vic felt strong arms turning him around. It was his coach, beaming with tears in his eyes. Behind his coach was the rest of the Barnstable swim team. They hoisted Vic upon their shoulders, chanting, “Raiders! Raiders! Raiders!” as they carried him to the podium for the medal ceremony. He quickly put his warm-up suit back on just as they announced him as the gold medal winner. Evan was second, and Derek Hampton was the bronze medal winner. At the end of the ceremony, Vic pulled the other two medalists to the top podium with him, and the three boys wrapped their arms around each other and posed as cameras flashed from the press and the fans in the stands.

Soon the swimmers were in the locker room and shedding their clothes as they prepared for the shower. Evan was standing next to Vic as they dropped their Speedos. He leaned into his friend and whispered, “Screw the records. This is why you joined the swim team, isn't it?”

“Fuck yeah, dude! Hot, smooth, wet boys showering in the same room—it’s Heaven on Earth, right?”

With their arms around each other’s shoulders, the two boys joined the rest of the guys in the shower room. Vic was greeted with whoops and hollers from the other swimmers as he stood at the entrance to the room, gazing at his admirers.

The thing Vic loved about swimmers was they were completely uninhibited. You get over any kind of shyness after a couple of races—all it takes is constantly wearing a skimpy Speedo in front of the general public.

Almost every team has a traditional shave party before meets, so everyone is used to seeing and touching each other’s junk. Vic and Evan checked out the boys in the shower and smiled when they realized most were hard or at least semi-hard. The boys found showerheads next to each other and began cleaning up and removing the chlorine smell from their lean, smooth bodies.

They finished their showers and got dressed. They were told to head out to the bus as soon as they finished. There were two more days of competition to go, but the boys were finished. Tomorrow was the girls’ competition, and the final day was the diving competition, in which Gavin was hoping to get a medal or two.

Gavin was saving a seat for Vic on the bus, and he went directly to his boyfriend as the guys were congratulating him and whooping it up. When the team got back to the hotel, Vic found his family in the lobby to greet him. There were more hugs and kisses, and his mom told them to go up to their room and change for a nice dinner. They had reservations for the lobby restaurant in an hour.

Gavin unlocked and opened the door to the room. Vic followed him in, and his boyfriend pushed the door closed behind them—and then pushed Vic up against the door. He placed his hands on either side of Vic’s face and kissed him. Man! He was hot for it! Tongues were dueling, and hardening cocks were grinding against each other.

When Gavin broke the kiss, the boys were both gasping for air. “Dude, I was so proud of you today. You fucking killed it! Three gold medals! Let’s take a shower before dinner.”

They ripped their clothes off and went into the bathroom. Gavin got the water nice and hot, and the two hot boys jumped in. With hard cocks pressing and rubbing against each other, Vic kissed his sexy boy under the water. Gavin broke the kiss and slid down to his knees. He looked up at Vic as he wrapped his mouth around his cock.

Vic loved Gavin’s eyes. They were always so expressive—and at this moment, they were expressing lust and horniness!

Vic had to pull Gavin’s amazing mouth off his cock. He didn’t want to come just yet. He pulled his boy put and met him with another kiss, tasting the remnants of his precum on Gavin’s tongue.

Vic told Gavin to lean against the back wall of the shower, exposing his smooth, muscular ass to the champion swimmer. In just seconds, Vic had pulled the mounds of flesh apart and buried his face in the target facing him.

Gavin’s moans let Vic know that he was doing just what his boy needed to get him ready for a nice hard shower pounding. Vic tongue-fucked Gavin and refused to allow him to touch his cock, which was bouncing with every quickening pulse of his heart.

Gavin loved feeling his boyfriend’s tongue working his ass. On more than one occasion, that act alone has given him an earth-shattering hands-free nut. But he didn’t want that this time.

Just as he began to feel the tightening above his balls, Gavin pulled himself off Vic’s tongue and turned around for yet another passion-filled kiss. “Fuck me, champ. I need you to pound my ass with that gold-medal cock!”

Gavin slathered some silicone lube on Vic’s throbbing cock and then applied some onto his quivering hole. He placed a leg on the edge of the tub to open himself for Vic.

Vic wrapped an arm around his boyfriend and used his free hand to ease his eight inches deep into Gavin. Once he bottomed out, Vic wrapped both arms around Gavin and pulled him up to his chest. They shared another passionate kiss as Vic started to slowly pump in and out of his boy. Gavin knew how to drive Vic crazy with the muscles of his diver’s ass.

As Vic increased his speed, he started to play with Gavin’s nipples while kissing the side of his neck—all three hot spots for his boy that would soon send him over the edge.

Gavin’s hands were above his head and wrapped around Vic’s head, so when he started his hands-free nut, the intensity was over-the-top. The moans and spasms coming from his boy were what pushed Vic over the edge, and he was soon shooting volley after volley of nut deep inside Gavin.

After coming down from their orgasmic high, Vic gently pulled his softening cock out of Gavin’s ass. Gavin turned around and kissed his boyfriend deeply.

“Dude, we gotta hurry and get ready. Your parents wouldn’t like us to be late—especially thinking we were late because of sex.”

“They’ll know anyway.”

“Why’s that?”

“Because you can never get the fresh-fucked glow off your face!”

The boys laughed and proceeded to soap and clean each other. They dried each other and then dried their hair, threw in some gel, and went out to the room to get dressed. They both decided on khakis and polos, which showed off their muscular bodies that left little to the imagination.

They made it to the lobby just as the host called their name. They were taken to a round table in the middle of the dining room. Gavin sat to Vic’s right, and his cousin Ian sat on the other side.

Vic and Ian were more like brothers than cousins. Even though there was a four-and-a-half-year difference in their ages, they were each other’s confidants and best friends. About two years ago, Ian’s dad was offered an excellent job at a Kentucky college, and the family moved away to Cumberland. While it broke the boys’ hearts to be separated, they were able to spend several weeks together during the summer months. Their parents also made sure that they could share in special events, like this particular weekend.

Dinner was amazing. Since Vic was done for the season, he went all out with a 16-ounce Porterhouse steak and all the fixings. Gavin ordered Salmon with a lemon-wine sauce, asparagus, and a salad. His events were still ahead of him, and he had to make sure he kept his diet healthy.

After they had finished eating, a gentleman in an orange blazer walked up to the table.

“Hi folks, I wanted to wait until you had finished eating before I came over. My name is Eddie Reese, and I’m the head coach of the University of Texas swim team.”

Vic’s eyes got huge. He knew precisely who Coach Reese was and knew that his program was one of the nation's top collegiate swim programs.

“I was told that I should come to this tournament and keep my eye on a certain Vic Greenley. I’m glad I came. Mr. Greenely, you were simply magnificent today.”

“Thank you, Coach. I’m honored that you came to see me.”

“No, son. The honor is mine. I was wondering if I might have a chance to speak with you and your parents sometime during the day tomorrow?”

Vic looked over at his beaming parents. “I think that would be great, Coach. What time would you like to meet?”

“Well, NCAA rules limit the amount of direct contact I’m allowed to have with recruits, so if I could get one of your parents’ cell numbers, I can text them in the morning once I have the details.”

Sam Greenley, Vic’s father, exchanged digits with Coach Reese and the orange-clad gentleman made his way out of the dining room and into the hotel lobby.

Gavin looked at his boyfriend with pride. “Dude, you’re being recruited by one of the top programs in the country! Awesome!”

Vic tried to reign in his excitement. “Nothing’s even close to being decided. He just wants to talk with us.”

Claire, Vic’s mother, returned with, “Son, you have every reason to be proud of yourself—just as we are proud of you. I think this is just the beginning of wonderful things to come.”

Once dinner was over, Vic and Gavin thanked the Greenley’s for dinner. They all hugged again as the Greenley’s and Ian were heading back to Barnstable. Ian got a little tearful as he said goodbye to his cousin.

“Ian dude—don’t get all bent out of shape. You’ll be back here in no time for a four-week visit. It’s going to be awesome, right?”

“Yeah, you’re right. And then you’ll have four weeks in Kentucky, right?”

“You got it, buddy!”

Vic wrapped his arms around his cousin and kissed him on top of his blonde head. And with that, the family was out the door and on their way home. Fortunately, Barnstable wasn’t that far from Boston. Sam and Claire would be returning in the morning to get Ian on a flight home and then meet with the coach from Texas.

Later that evening, Vic and Gavin were lying in bed watching television when there was a light knock on the door. Gavin got up to answer the door and found Evan.

“Hurry and get in here. It’s past curfew!” Gavin was whispering while he pulled their friend into the room.

“And what brings you here this time of night?” Vic was smiling at Evan, pretty sure of the answer.

“Dude, I’m a horny teenage boy with raging hormones. You’re horny teenage boys with raging hormones. What do you think I’m doing here?”

In no time at all, there were three naked and horny teen boys doing what they’ve done on several occasions. There was a lot of sucking, rimming, jerking, and kissing. Evan refused to fuck, as he was waiting for that special dude to give that cherry up. So, while Gavin had Vic on all fours and plowing his thick seven inches into Vic, Evan was underneath the champion in an intense sixty-nine.

Evan was the first to shoot his sweet load into Vic’s mouth. Vic loved the taste of Evan’s cum, and that soon sent him over the edge, causing his ass to contract around Gavin’s thick cock. That sent Gavin over the edge, and he filled his boyfriend with his hot load of love.

The three friends cuddled and snuggled for a while after they came back to earth. Evan got up and put his clothes back on. He thanked his buds for the fun times and snuck back to his room.

Vic and Gavin got under the covers, kissed each other goodnight, and fell into a deep and much-needed sleep with Vic wrapped around his boy in a spoon.

The obnoxiously loud phone rang at 7:00 to wake them up. The boys were to meet the team downstairs for breakfast and leave at 8:15 for the girls’ competition.

Sadly, the Barnstable girls were not having a good meet. Only two qualified for the final rounds, and the girls’ relay team finished one spot out of qualifying for the finals, their strongest race.

Around 10:30, Vic got a text from his dad saying that their meeting with Coach Reese would happen at 12:30, during the meet’s lunch break. They would be meeting in a conference room in the same building. He also let Vic know that they would be bringing him some lunch.

At 12:20, Vic found an usher and got directions to the conference room. He got there and found his parents with a grilled chicken salad and a bottle of water. They wanted the coach to see their son eating healthy food, of course.

Right at 12:30, Coach Reese came into the room with his own salad. “Good! I’m glad you found the room without any trouble. Me? I got lost.” The coach chuckled and sat down at the table across from the Greenley’s.

“Now, I realize it’s a little late in the year to be recruiting, but when my people told me about you, I had to come and see you for myself. Have you committed to a program yet, son?”

“I guess so, sir. I applied to Boston College and was offered a spot on the team, but my scholarship to BC is an academic one.”

“That’s good to know. What if I told you that I have one full-ride left for next year? Something in my gut told me to hold on to it, which I rarely do. But I have to tell you, son—you are by far the finest high school swimmer I’ve ever seen, and I would like nothing better than to see you swimming as a Longhorn next year.

“I can say with great certainty that if you swim for us the way I saw you swim yesterday, you will be seeing quite a bit of action your Freshman year. Now, because you’ve not been offered an athletic scholarship from BC, you are—more or less—a free agent. Do you have any questions?”

Vic looked at his parents with a questioning look. Claire knew what her son wanted to ask and said, “Vic, go ahead—ask whatever you want. It’s okay.”

“Well, sir—I have to be honest with you just as I hope people are honest with me. You see, I’m gay. And the thought of being a gay athlete in Texas has me a little nervous.”

“Son, I appreciate your candidness and honesty, and you can rest assured that you will get the same thing from the other coaches and me.

“As far as your being gay, that’s a non-issue. There have been gay athletes in the Longhorn programs for years. We don’t care who you might share a bed with as long as you commit to giving us 110% every time you are in the pool.

“As far as being in Texas, I will say that there are parts of the state that tend to be less than tolerant. But I’ve found that’s the case almost anywhere. However, Austin is one of the most progressive and accepting cities in the country. I don’t see your sexuality being an issue at all.

“Now, as far as life at UT goes, you would be staying in the athletic dorms, which are much nicer than the dorms other students live in. Part of your acceptance of the scholarship, should you decide to accept it, is that you live in the athletic facility during your Freshman and Sophomore years. We have our own food services, which focus on meals and the dietary requirements for student-athletes.

“We have strict academic standards, and we stay in touch with your professors to make sure you are meeting those standards. If you have difficulty in any of your classes, we have a full staff of tutors and TA’s that will do whatever it takes to get you over those bumps in the road. Do you know what you would like to major in?”

“Yessir. I plan on majoring in American History. It’s my favorite subject, and I hope to be a high school history teacher. My history teacher at Barnstable High is amazing and has been a real inspiration to me.”

“Excellent to hear, son. Now, I’ve spoken with your coach, and he’s aware of what’s going on here. You’ve been excused from attending the afternoon matches, so you can read over this information and the Letter of Commitment. Should you decide to accept our offer, just fax me a signed copy and then throw the original in the mail. Any questions?”

Vic used every bit of energy to stay calm and relaxed while his parents were both beaming with pride. “No, sir. You should be hearing from us soon. Can my dad text you if there are any questions—or if we have an answer for you?”

“Yes. That would be wonderful. You shouldn’t text me, though. Not until you are officially a part of our program—should that be your decision.”

The four were finishing their lunch when there was a knock on the door. It was Vic’s coach.

“Hi folks, I hope I’m not interrupting. I just wanted to check in and see if there was anything I could do before our afternoon started up.”

“Ah, you must be Coach Walker! I want to congratulate you on your fine work with this young man. I need to get on my way to the airport to catch my flight back to Texas. I’m sure the Greenley’s will fill you in on everything.”

There were handshakes all around, and Coach Walker said, “It’s an honor to meet you, Coach Reese. You’ve been an inspiration to me for many years now. I hope everything works out for all involved.”

“It’s nice to meet you too, sir. Everyone have a great afternoon, and I hope to hear from you soon!”

Coach Reese let himself out of the conference room. Vic couldn’t hold in his excitement any longer. “Oh my God, Coach! He offered me a full-ride scholarship to UT! Can you believe it?”

Coach Reese had paused outside the conference room door and smiled as he heard Vic. He felt good about this recruiting trip—better than all of his trips from the past year combined.

Everyone was thrilled with the way things were turning out. Vic felt extremely good about everything Coach Reese had told him and had pretty much made his decision. He also knew that he couldn’t say anything until they all looked over the paperwork.

Sam asked Coach Walker if he knew where there was a copy machine. He wanted all three Greenley’s to be able to read the agreement and talk about it as something came up. Coach took the paperwork and said he would send them back with one of the ushers. He shook everyone’s hands and added a hug for Vic. “I’m proud of you, son. You deserve all the good things that are bound to come your way.”

The Greenley’s finished their lunch, which was barely touched during their meeting. About fifteen minutes later, an usher knocked on the door and delivered a sealed manila envelope containing three copies of the agreement.

They went through the agreement item by item, and just as Sam expected, everything was cut and dry. It was agreed that should Vic decide to accept the offer, he would be in an ideal situation.

There was no question for Vic. He thanked his Dad for being an attorney and was grateful there was nothing unusual in the agreement. Vic signed the Letter of Commitment and told his dad to take a picture of the signature with his phone and text it to Coach Reese. Sam told his son that he would fax the agreement and mail it from his office as soon as he got back.

Everyone got up and left the conference room. Sam and Claire would be heading back to Barnstable, and Vic would join Gavin in the stands for the rest of the afternoon matches.

Gavin. Vic hadn’t even thought about how Gavin was going to take his moving to Texas. He didn’t want to upset him before his diving competition the next day. He made the decision not to say anything until after Gavin was done competing.

Vic found his seat next to Gavin and Evan and sat quietly, not saying anything. The other two boys were about to burst at the seams, and finally, it was Evan who spoke up. “Don’t you even dare be a bitch and not tell us how your meeting went!”

“What? What are you talking about?”

Gavin rolled his eyes, looked straight ahead, and said, “If you got an offer to UT and didn’t accept it, I will break up with you right here and then kick your hot ass back to Barnstable.”

“I don’t want you to worry about things until after you compete.”

“Are you kidding me? If you don’t tell me what Coach Reese said to you right now, I’ll totally suck tomorrow from wondering what’s in store for you!”

Vic paused, took a deep breath, and quietly said, “Full ride. He offered me a full-ride athletic scholarship.”

“Yes!” Both boys reacted and wrapped their arms around Vic.

Evan whispered into Vic’s ear, “Dude, you are the shit, man! Way to fucking go!”

Gavin whispered, “I love you, Vic. You make me so proud!”

Vic was relieved that his buds were excited for him. They settled in to watch the rest of the afternoon matches. Sadly, the Barnstable girls didn’t medal, but it was all good. They were happy to have just made it to the state championships.

After returning to the hotel, the boys decided to walk down the street and enjoy some Italian food. While Gavin had a light dinner of linguine Pomodoro, Vic and Evan decided to go for it. Vic had lasagna, and Evan had a carbonara dish.

Vic asked Evan if he would sneak into the room tonight, and he turned down the offer. “Dudes, Gavin competes tomorrow. Vic, you gotta give him his good luck fuck. Look what it did for you!”

“Hehe, but I’m not going to get any full-ride offers. I’ve already committed to Ohio State. It’s not Texas, but hey—it’s a top-twenty program.”

That evening Vic and Gavin enjoyed a hot session of making love—twice. Vic gave his boyfriend everything he had received the night before his races. And yes, it had the results the boys had hoped for. Gavin won a silver medal in the three-meter springboard and gold in the ten-meter platform!

A few days after the competition, Gavin received a registered letter from Ohio State congratulating him on his performance at the state championships. They offered to up his scholarship to a full-ride. Gavin immediately signed the new Letter of Commitment and FedEx’d it back to Columbus.

The boys were set for their college careers, and both graduated with honors from Barnstable High School. At the end-of-the-year athletic banquet, Vic was awarded Athlete of the Year.

During the Summer, both boys and Evan worked as lifeguards at the community pool and ended each shift horny and ready to go. Seeing all those hot boys with various degrees of skimpy swimsuits had a huge hormonal effect.

The coolest part of the Summer was the graduation gift from Vic’s parents. They had converted the basement into a full, two-bedroom apartment. It was a win-win for the entire family. Vic’s old bedroom would now be the office his mom had wanted for years. Sam wouldn’t have to share his home office any longer. And best of all, Vic had the privacy he had always dreamed of.

Journal Entry – 8/16/2012

Just arrived in Texas for orientation and to move into the dorm. Mom, Dad, and I took three days to drive here with a loaded SUV. Dad and I did most of the driving. Mom mostly read. I couldn’t do that. If I tried to read in the car, I’d hurl.

When we got to Austin, we went right to the athletic dorm. Now I have to say, a program like UT sure does take care of its scholarship jocks. Holy fuck! This wasn’t a dorm room. It had a common area with a small kitchen and breakfast bar with two stools. There was also a small living room with a sofa, chair, coffee table, and a 50” flat screen mounted on the wall. On either side of the living room was a bedroom with a fucking double bed. Jocks tend to be big guys, and the standard dorm single bed would be a joke.

We were the first to get to the room, so Dad and I went back and forth to the SUV and brought shit up while Mom put stuff away. I knew I would never find anything. Mom hadn’t put my stuff away in years.

Once we had everything loaded in the room, Mom and Dad decided to hit the Target we had passed on the way into town and get shit for the kitchen. Nice. While they were gone, I could try to figure out where Mom put everything.

Since I was such a latecomer to the program, I didn’t know any of the other guys on the team. I just knew my roommate was another dude on the swim team. About thirty minutes later, I was lying on my bed and kinda sorta napping when I heard the front door open.

It was my roomie. Holy fuck! This boy is hot! The first thing I noticed was the large cowboy hat. Then I caught his piercing blue eyes. Finally, I saw the huge, toothy grin—complete with the deepest dimples I’ve ever seen.

He held out his hand, and I took it. “Hi, I’m Vic.”

With the biggest southern drawl I’ve ever heard, he replied with, “Hey Vic, I’m Hunter.”

Well, fuck me. I have a cowboy for a roomie. And a hot as fuck cowboy at that.

Hmmm. Ya think there's some magic between the cowboy and Cape Cod boy? A lot of that just might depend on your comments.
I haven't thanked my readers enough for the feels and the support.
Honestly, I'm still kind of in shock that these characters have been so popular. I mean, I usually love my characters, but never expected a response like I've seen from you guys! It blows me away. I write musicals (music and book).
Again, your comments keep me going and help guide the direction of the story. Can't wait to hear what you think!

My ex-boyfriend took me to Austin back in 1990. We stayed with his family in a houseboat on Lake Travis – and saw Hippy Hollow from a boat offshore. And visited his alma mater, UT Austin. He took me to The Boathouse (I think it was). The weather was very hot and sticky!

Austin might be the most Progressive part of Texas, but it suffers badly in comparison with the Bay Area!  ;-)

Great start.  Glad to see some more back story for the Barnstable bunch. Nice to see a young Ian before his father effed up his life.  Was happy that Vic and Gavin still parted as friends.  Will Ohio State and University of Texas meet at a tournament?  Yee Haw. Hello cowboy

Well, Hunter is a full fledged cowboy, that will make Vic's relationship with his roommate very interesting, especially when they are playing 'horsie'.
