The Poetry of D/s - 7. The Benefit of Silence

This week i again disappointed Sir with my poor behaviour. i said something i should not have. Sir said He wanted me to write something to demonstrate that i understood what i did, and what i should be doing. It was to be something i could go back to and meditate upon. While this is not a poem, it is part of our Lifestyle so i put it here as Sir requested.

Thoughts crowd my head though my voice is silent

My mouth is full of things I should not speak

Only contemplated words should be in my heart

Remembering to summon the wisdom to use them wisely

For words without wisdom lack any precision

They are agitated like sand tossed by the sea

Ideas and hopes strewn mindlessly in a wasteland

Empty of forethought or careful deliberation

Words are to be selected; spoken with deference

My goal to be modest and mindful; obedient to You

To meditate on the benefit of silence

My duty lies in seeking my own perfection

I think most of us could spend more time choosing deliberate words.

Thank you for putting this thought out Tim.  It gives me much to reflect on

thanks very much, starry xo

Missed this somehow, but I’ve seen it now and read your words, tim. They make sense, they really do. :)

Perfectly said . Just spent  some time on a silent retreat , I find now so many thoughtless words are thrown around like garbage caught in a whirlwind.

did you?  how interesting .. i've written about silence a few times .. the poem before this one as well.. i tire of noise, i'm very happy in my own head.. but i have been slipping. so i needed to refocus... the retreat sounds fascinating.

14 days of absolute silence and solitude, no seeing another person or interaction if you did not want to , except at meal times. Nelson did drive up from our holiday home  into the mountains to be with me for 2 hours a day . Put much of my fucked -up A type life into perspective . Brought clarity to many things I’ve been too afraid and too unwilling to face .
