Cozy Contemplations - 26. Chapter 26 Smatterings

A little bit of this and that.

Good Night, Dear Friend

I wish you dreams that calm the soul

And sweet respite to make you whole

I bade you dwell on a bed of flowers

Till from the sun the nighttime cowers

Tanka: Folly

Looking behind me

Serves me not in the long run

But my head turns still

And like the boy who cried wolf

There’s always a price to pay

Tanka: Love

Something to be craved

And treasured in great measure

Unfortunately

Easy to take for granted

When it sits on your doorstep

Tanka: Loss

We all know the pain

Of a treasure no more

Our vessel emptied

Like a forlorn hourglass

Waiting to be flipped over

Haiku: Renewal

Lightning spears the earth

Destroying and renewing

A tool of the gods

Haiku: Nature’s Glory

Fireflies light the night

Giving depth to the darkness

Like stars brought to earth

Liked them all.  Especially meaningful: the first two and the last one.

Thanks so much, Paul. I'm pleased you could find meaning in these.  Cheers... Gary....

These were all treasures, each finding its' place in my heart, so I can't pick one easily over the others...but if I must, then it would be 'Good Night, Dear Friend'.  I think you know why from your calls to me while I was in rehab for two months after my eye surgeries.  My friends lived too far away to visit, and my remaining family didn't call or visit despite living in the suburbs of my own city.  Since I couldn't make long distance calls, it was your kind heart that made my life feel worth-while and encouraged me to keep up my small efforts at writing.

To think this all began when I asked you to beta for me when Timothy M suggested you, and you nearly said 'no' out of your schedule's demands.  I consider that one of the best days of my life, my dear.

Aww... thank you, buddy. You know I feel the same as you. Yes, we do have Timothy to thank for bringing us together. As always, much love and respect, CG. xoxoxoxo

I love these small gems, these delectable poetic small plates. Nature’s Glory is an instant favorite, as is your benediction in Goodnight. Loss speaks persistently to me, in melancholy, yet irresistible words. Thank you for posting these!
