Lyrics for Tony - a collection of poems - 6. semantics

Lyric No. 14

Which bonds are the strongest ones that we make? –

Those of shared compassion, or like-felt pain;

Which dearer to lose, or stronger to stake;

And which one to turn, when neither is sane?

Lyric No. 15

What is the difference between friends and lovers..?

Friends are equals; lovers never are.

In our relationship, I have let you have all the power;

The when and where and how.

Will that change as we become friends?

Can you come down to be my equal..?

Lyric No. 16

Words are just semantics,

The less thought you put in them,

The better I will understand how you feel.

I just loved no 16. So true.

Aw, thank you so much. All of these comments touch my heart, for these are very personal things to 'put out there,' like I am doing. THANK YOU!

I suck at analysis, particularly of poetry, and I certainly can't write it, so I'll just say that these three resonate with me the most as a writer trying to express my own feelings, and dealing with my past pain.

Wonderful words writ large, AC. Thank you.

Loved all three of these poems, especially the equality or lack of between friends and lovers.

Excellent.

Excellent.

The friends and lovers lyric was a rather difficult one to write. Thank you for mentioning it. I love your encouragement!
