I enjoyed seeing the generations make use of the car. Very touching story Carlos.
Thanks, Wayne!

It was interesting to write something a bit more involved than I usually do, I'll admit a spot or two almost made tear up while writing. I'm such a wuss!

Great story Carlos. I loved the connection between the generations as they each cared for Melvyn. Made me wish I had a car to pass on to my son.

Made me cry, but left me with a big smile at the end. What an awesome story.

Thank you for taking the time to write it.

Thanks Isaac. You have a son, start a family tradition. Pass something on to him he may one day pass on to your grandchildren. Because of consecutive emigrations, I have almost no connection with my past. The couple of items I have from my grandparents, I treasure.

Thank you!!!!

That I was able to move you in such a way is a huge compliment. I didn't want a tale where everything was perfect, but I wanted to end on a positive note. I hope in 2029, when Melvyn turns 100, somebody writes a sequel. I hope Quint falls in love with car. :)

Damn Carlos. You have me all teary-eyed after reading that. :,( What a lovely story. It was nice to see the family through the lens of the car and that the car remained so important to all the family members. The car was a great vehicle to show the development of the family throughout the years. (pun intended ;) ) Great job :)

Okay, now I'm humbled. Coming from you, the praise is extremely flattering. Thanks, Val!

Nice and cozy. I liked it. It is very different from your other stories, but very solid too.
Gracias, Papo!

I use the prompts as a way of trying different things, and challenging myself. Some of them have been short, some funny, some raunchy and this one was just a labor of love.

The shared bond of each generation to the preceding ones through Melvyn was compelling. I'll admit to tears. While a bit different than what you typically write it was a nice example of the storytelling of which you are capable. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Thanks, bud.

Someone recently told me they could read something and know if it was mine by the style. Another person mentioned I liked to use heavy dialogue at certain recognizable points. Now a I'm getting comments about how different this is from my other writings. I knew the tone was different, but didn't realize it would be so noticeable. It's pretty cool stuff to hear, for someone as new to writing as I am!

Thanks again for the review!

Such a beautiful story Carlos! You made me cry, but you also made me smile. A truly wonderful story about carrying on legacies through the generations.

I loved this! It reminded me so much of my grandfather, and the 1939 Packard in my garage that was his first car when he came to America in 1946. Thank you.

Thanks LL!

I'm please with how the story turned out and the response to it so far. Don't tell anyone, but each time I read the final section, while cleaning up and editing, I reared up while smiling ;)

I'm so glad I was able to evoke happy memories. I hope your Packard brings much joy to you, and whomever owns it afterwards.to the next owner.

A nice tale. History and heritage handed down from generation to generation, nicely done.

Thanks, mate!

Was inspired to do something a bit different. It was fun to write this type of story. Probably as close as I can get to sappy!

We'll return to the usual smart-assed, raunchy approach soon :)
