Tears Of The Neko 1. Tears of the Neko

   (3 reviews)

A younger brother buys his brother, the Duke and heir to the throne, a surprising gift for his brother's birthday--a young, very skittish neko slave. But ,Damien has no use for a personal slave. But a bet with his two younger brothers has Damien keeping the boy at his side as a matter of pride. When attempts on his life begin, Damien discovers just how protective the cat-like human can be.

Tears of the Neko is set in a fictional world where humans and nekos (cat/human hybrids) make up the population of a slave/master society.  It is loosely based in a historical monarchy.  Here, slaves often choose to become a slave as a means of survival, depending and relying on the protection of their masters, who return the slaves' service with food, shelter and clothing.
UPDATE: The rewrite has been completely posted now.  The new version is 76K words (30K+ words longer than the original version). Thanks to all the reviewers of the original--they really helped me to develop this into something greater, I believe.

This was the first story of Craftingmom’s that I read. I loved it and soon devoured the rest of her work and of course I followed her so I would find out when anything new is posted.

I loved the alternative world CM created for this story. The characters are written so well you feel what they feel.

Damian starts the story so closed off and all about duty, no fun allowed. But, as he has to spend time with Kayden he starts to smile more and starts to loosen up.

They then have to work together to face off against everyone who may be trying to get rid of Damian and Kayden.

A wonderful read as always from CM

Good plot. Very well built characters. A good fantasy romance to be read nonstop from beginning to end. Perhaps the antagonist is too obvious for my taste, but if you really center on what's happening you'll enjoy it.

Although I found it a heartbreaking story, it is one that I really enjoyed, as well as the follow up story. I wish to congratulate Craftingmom, on a wonderful story.

I look forward to reading a lot more of your stories. Regards Q
