Everything's Jake

   (3 reviews)
Genres: General Fiction

This is an odd little story adapted from an idea for a collaboration a long time ago. It changes points of view and goes from first person to third, although not within the same chapter...I think. The name comes from a 'saying' or 'colloquialism' that equates everything being jake; to everything being fine or good, which in the end it is. Or is it?

It's been some years since this story was written I wasn't member of GA at the time. Why am I reviewing this?Because the main topic of this story is A very, very relevant issue told in a way only this author can tell it. I've come across  very good stories on GA that didn't get rated and those should have been rated and this is one of them I'm going to rectify that now.Read this story

Spoiler

As authors, sometimes we shy away from ugly subjects, but sometimes those are the stories that really need to be told. Domestic abuse is no joke. It used to be, until too many bodies got stacked up, and law enforcement had to take it more seriously.

Dabeagle did such a good job making it real, there were times when I had to get up and walk around.

There's a dirty lie abusers tell you: you can't do better.

Yes, you can. You just have to take the first step and walk away.

Hidden for spoilers.

Response from the author:

Hugs to you, James.

Spoiler alert: violence is never the answer. Sadly, sometimes, neither is love. The recipient of the former is likely unable to accept the latter.

While it’s a plague wherever it visits abuse, domestic and otherwise, does not have to be a death sentence. But I digress…

Everything here isn’t Jake as the author teases. At the same time everything here is Jake. Confused? So was I.

Take a deep breath and read on. I’m glad I did.

Another spoiler alert: love is the answer. ❤️
