Jeff Fletcher is perfect for the job: he's experienced, knowledgeable, and basically does his manager's duties as it is.  He's stunned, however, when his interview is over in mere minutes.  Initially unable to determine what caused his interview to go more poorly than expected, Jeff begins to realize that there's underlying issues at play.

Written in response to the July 2018 Newsletter Game: Pride Month Headline.  My headline: "Report: “Gay glass ceiling” prevents gay men from being promoted."  While the headline itself did not include a reference to Pride, it stuck out to me and I felt it an intriguing write.

This well written short story takes a look at discrimination in the workplace. The characters feel real, and the dialogue does too. Jeff is up for a promotion at work. His interview doesn't seem to go well, in spite of the fact he took some time to prepare for it. After his initial anger subsides, he begins to wonder what went wrong. Disjecta Membra has written an interesting look at office politics and discrimination. It is well worth reading.
