My Poetry Prompts - 1. Doing the Tanka

Winter holds on and refuses to let Spring in!

Just when I need warmth

Cold returns freezing my toes

Halting new blossoms

And sending all back into

Hibernation once again

Cold blasting wind makes

My uncontrolled trembling yearn

With eager grasping

For warm regeneration

Freedom from jacket restraint.

Stubborn relentless

Pushing limits to extremes

Cold refuses to brake

Icy breeze chases spring warmth

Signs ignored stopping for none

Someone pass me a jacket. The desire for warmth comes out loud and clear.

I dislike that time of year, I think it teases too much, and your poems--a tease for more. Which means you now have to get busy. Nice work.

This is really good. Clear and compact and precise with so many suggested resonances. You should definitely post some more. Hopefully GA can give you some of the warmth you are missing. :)

I really liked this - and I don't usually read poetry on here.

It conveyed a feeling that seems all too familiar to me.

I've read your profile and you've got an interesting story. I hope to read more of you on here!

Hey my new friend! Well done.

Yearning, sighing, starving

Pining, dying, craving

Freezing, chasing, longing,

Yielding,

Feeling,

Rest

I feel this as the winter sets in. I'm confused as to whether to turn the pilot lights on on my furnace and use propane or just wait.

Right now, I'm waiting until your poem made me think about it. Thanks

Hey, thanks for reading and responding to my little efforts. I'm in the southern hemisphere so we are finally having warmer weather here. Yeah!

This certainly gives a complete picture. I can relate to that frustrating feel of winter, particularly with those lines: ‘Hibernation once again’ and ‘freedom from jacket restraint’. Great descriptions and nicely put together.
