Suicide is the leading cause of death in Hawaii among gay and lesbian youth. Gay youth suicide is caused by the internalization of the “homophobia" and violence directed at gays. If you are aware of anyone talking or even thinking about committing suicide, please seek help from a family member or friend. Suicide is never the answer; no matter how bad things may get, it is never the answer. If you see or know someone being picked on, lead them a hand. One friend can make all the difference.
