Musings of a Messed Up Mind - 19. Suffer

Suffer

Oh love hurts.

It’s an ache and sadness

When the one you love

Is in pain and you can’t help.

I am afraid.

Of being on my own

Will I be able to cope

Is my love simply selfishness?

I will wait.

Hope that patience works

Pray you are all right

I will wait and just love you.

I like this very much. I can relate to the feelings it brings up, and to the frustration of not being able to ease the pain. Thank you for this one.

Poignant thoughts tim, beautifully expressed.

Think of the great number of lover-halves for whom these lines apply.

Dark teal with highlights of pink.

Too many. What colour are tears?

Thanks skinny

Oh tim, I know this pain and it is not selfish rather it is fear and care for something beyond ourselves even if we also fear for ourselves. Wonderfully expressed.

Hey tim
A sad tale this poem is telling. But it also is a testament to the power of real love. We are not omnipotent, but to be there and endure the hard times for the benefit of another is powerful in and of itself.
As always, nicely done. :)

It can be hard to see someone you love hurting, and not being able to help. Sometimes all you can do is let them know you're there.

Hi dugh, I hope you're right -you usually are! Someone I care for was going through a bad patch, I was frustrated I could do little to help.

Thanks for reading. .

I suppose this poem reminds me of my definition of 'teamwork.' Something along the lines of "When you are having a bad day, I'm having a good one; when I'm having a bad day, you are having a good one.

I hope and believe the desire for the one to 'feel' this poem got the message loud and clear.

Thanks for posting this, Tim.

Thanks AC. This is mighty late. Sorry! Teamwork is the key I think. Thanks for your support as always!

Reading this poem I almost wondered if Michael wrote it. Somehow, I can imagine him cradling you when you are in pain; caring and desperate for you to be there for him always, and yet suffering that small pin prick of doubt: 'am I being selfish?'
And then I thought it could to a lesser degree be about many of us, your friends, since we wish for your presence in our lives so much that we resent the pain and sadness which sometimes makes you falter and retreat to regroup.
Yet, even if somewhat selfish, the well-wishing for you is genuine, and I for one am grateful you (and we) have Michael to be the caretaker of this wonderful person who is my namesake.

Tim ... this is beautiful. I'm speechless. When I'm in really bad shape what you imagine about Michael is the truth. He's been known to stay up all night watching or holding me, a comforting arm always close by.I love you guys.. and i do retreat when I'm down or moody.. i rather hide away. It's not pretty and i rather not do that to you, even though i'm pretty sure all id get is a hug. Tim this is lovely and i dont know what to say but thank you. hugs and kisses xoxoxo
