timmy's poetry - 10. For Mum

February was my mom's birth month...

You haunt my dreams still, as i sleep;

memory holds you trapped in time.

You speak, but it's all pantomime,

but they’re real tears that I weep.

Though your ashes lay so close by

My thoughts of you are my treasure

held close with threads of gossamer

Not ready yet to say goodbye

Your silent urn pulls clouded gaze,

I recall twinkling memories

Sweet smiles, and kisses on skinned knees

yet the granite box draws malaise

In this world i stand on my own

Watch as others have family

Aged parents they love dearly

Your ossuary, my touchstone

She's been on my mind.

Your memories - twinkling - skinned knees - perfect images to recall the person you still love. Such memories are conveyed so beautifully in this, as is the hurt you bear in missing her. One cannot read this without thinking of goodness and warmth; sadness and yearning. I offer hugs to you for both.

Hey tim

The one thing that you have that can never be taken away is the knowledge that your mum loved you without measure or qualification. Of that, I have no doubt.

Without doubt I know your mum loved you unconditionally. It is fitting and good that you honor her with your memories and words. I am sorry for her passing as I know your life changed dramatically from that point to bring you undeserved heartbreak. I believe she is proud ot the man you've become.
Thank you for sharing her with us. Namaste little brother.

Oh tim, this is such a soulful poem. I am sure, that your mum still loves you. This loving energy can not be lost in the universe. The physic`s principal of energy conversation tells us so.
But I see the yearning and sadness and if you want to listening ear, I offer one.
Hug you Lyssa

Lovely, tim, and I don't find it sad. I get the same feelings, but with the feeling of loss comes warmth at the memories... in that respect, they'll never be gone.

Beautiful imagery - perfect for the memories of a mother's love. She is depicted as an angel, watching over you. A spiritual presence in the room, enveloping you with her love, even now.

The only thing that we never gonna forget is mother's love. I can feel it through your poem. Sad yet rejuvenating the true relationship of earth.

It's mother's love all we want
It's mother's love we don't get
Yet
It's mother's love for what we thought
And fight
It's mother's love all we left.

Thank you Lyssa. You know, the way you think, you remind me of her a lot. Don't worry, I dont think of you as my mum, but she had the kind of strength and passion that you do.

I wrote this poem this morning. I chose the Elegy as the form rather than free verse or couplets, somehow it seemed the right thing to do. I feel spirits here with me often...

Your words always affect me. This time with a longing for the relationship that you had with your mom, and that I used to have with mine. Those moments you talk about, I remember fondly.
Again, thank you for sharing this, with us.
