timmy's poetry - 41. Adrift

Lost and adrift on an unfriendly sea

I am a compass with no magnetic north

No more useless can I be

Time and time again you turn me around

There are no points of reference

I am lost and still unfound

Your orders I’ve obeyed blindly

It doesn’t matter that I flounder

While you watch with apathy

The emotion in this has left me lost for words, so I'll send a  and just say hang on in there, and you have friends here if you need us.

From the little I know of Mike, I very much doubt that apathy would be his response to your distress. I hope you can anchor yourself once more, tim, and that this current pall of self-doubt lifts soon.

I wish I could take away the loneliness that I sense in this poem... but I am afraid loneliness is part of every gay man's life.

Having said that I hope, as northie has said, that you will find a way to anchor yourself

You choose a metaphor of the sea, and of navigation. It speaks to my heart. I have confidence that you will steer your way home.

I got news for you: you're in control of your own compass. Point yourself in the direction you want to go. Love you, tim.

When your compass seems to fail you, look to the north star inside and you will find your way again.

this one was hard to "like". it was a statement of a friend drowning.  my hope is you swim, you find 'your north'.
