Moggy's Mutterings - 10. Lake Love

1.
Hanging above a sea of blackness.
The high hung moon, like a lighthouse in the night
guides the lonely sailor into the unseen land.
The silvery globe, slung low on the horizon,
lights a path to the sea.
The figure, almost ghost like, glides towards the partner.
Meeting on the shoreline, together they turn to meet the future.

2.
The lake waves lap at the rocky shore.
Low, rain filled clouds touch the water at the horizon.
Gentle noises of rain and waves mix ,in twilight of the day.
Silently the freighter glides on to destinations unknown.
Lake men work, without a thought to the solitary life watching.
Does the man dream of a career on the modern vessel
or does he dream of a time, sailing with canvas sails.
The man watches as the ship glides over the grave of vessels that
have met the lake in contest. and in that moment, were lost forever.
As Natives say:
“They have slipped through the crack between, the lake and sky.”
