Moggy's Mutterings - 43. Let Go

She let him go, knowing she had the power to make him stay.
But how could she not let go of this man she loved,
who no longer wanted and, perhaps, didn't love her?
For loving someone, means letting go,
no matter how the heart may shatter at the parting.

Parker said it right, hard to read and consider. I like to think i would do the right thing in those circumstances and let a person go, but unless I'm ever in that posistion, I'll never know.

Heartbreaking, yet I love the theme of self-preservation and loving someone, even when letting them go. Thank you for this, moggy.

I'm not generally a fan of the 'if you love them, let them go' school of thought, but here - it's beautiful. You make it clear the poet knows the man does not love them anymore, but he's hanging on - maybe for the poet's sake. So, yes, the noble and brave thing to do in this situation is help the man guide himself away...as heartbreakingly sad as that may be.

thank you AC.  didn't guide him anywhere, just didn't make him stay, it wasn't noble or brave, it was more like self preservation. it took time to heal. some days the memories are a little closer:hug:
