I am amazed at how much the author packed into 1,500 words. Bless Me, Father is a good example of what a talented author can accomplish by stripping back adornments and excess. A simple, sad story of loss and missed opportunity with streaks of misguided religious fervor woven through it. Regrets are a horrible thing to live with. I choose to believe the open ending allows a ray of hope to shine through. Best thing I've read so far this year.

"Bless Me Father" is a brilliantly written short story! Everyone should take the little bit of time needed to read it. It is sad, but there is so much said in these few words. I imagine it would generate a lot of discussion in a book study group. I highly recommend this story!

A story of what could have been, and love lost. We get a glimpse at what happens when doctrine rules our judgement.  Exquisitely told, heart wrenching, but with a slip of hope in the end, for redemption.

A poignant story of love, loss and regret. Beautifully written. Love like this should never be forbidden. A must read.

A blossoming love never to be. Memories and what ifs that taunt you. A well written story of the forbidden love two young boys never fully realize.

Five stars for this excellent tale. It is a tale of pain and inner turmoil of a man, whose life was drastically altered by events in his youth. Well worth the time to read, and it begs to have a follow-up story to it.
